1979 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 DIESEL 4X4 with 48,xxx original Kilometers! This is an original 3.0L 4-Cyl Diesel 4WD offered as a Left-Hand-Drive from Canada originally. This BJ (diesel) has not been restored and is in 90-95% original condition. The exterior is unbelievably clean with only a few minor rust spots clearly shown in the pictures. The interior is exceptionally clean and the only thing worth noting would be a couple rips on the passenger seat bottom and the rubber floor mat has a tear or two. Other than that the dash, jump seats, metal floor boards, door panels are all in great shape. It does not have the original stereo but the dash is near flawless and has not been chopped whatsoever. All the knobs work including the heating system. The non-original parts include the wheels, auxiliary fuel tank, exhaust due to aux tank, front bumper, sunroof & temporary radio (to the best of my knowledge). The undercarriage is solid, rust free. Mechanically, this BJ40 is also in great shape with everything in proper working condition. It has a 24-volt system with the original Toyota light that plugs into the glove compartment for a work light and even a working pull down shield for the radiator. It comes with extra Toyota Injectors, Oil Filters, Air Filters and Maintenance & Engine Repair Manuals, Original Jack & Toyota Tool Kit. This is a rare find and would make a great addition to anyone's collection. This Land Cruiser was sold new in Canada where it was originally rust proofed with Ziebart (Ziebart International :: Welcome to Ziebart.com) then only after a couple years was moved to California's Bay area until last year where it now resides in the Dallas, Tx area. Asking $29850...will consider reasonable offers. See over 70 pictures on eCarLink - World Famous Retailer of Used BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari, Audi, Porsche, Exotics & More in Dallas, Texas

I appreciate your information...Yes, the BJ40 has a sunroof but it could be replaced if a buyer wanted to restore to original. I put this info on the post and the little bit of rust which is minimal for year and everyone knows they are prone to this spot. It has not been restored and I put a lot of pictures the way it sits so those can be sure of what they are looking at. I would consider reasonable offers and you have to start somewhere. I am a dealer but sell hi-end vehicles if you look at rest of inventory. These vehicles are a hobby for me like most on this forum. Thanks again!

I am a dealer, however, as a hobby I have personally own or owned Land Cruisers, CJ's, Old Bronco's, etc. Any "cool" 4WD's basically. I am selling this vehicle for a friend that has worked on Land Cruisers since the early 70's and is a Master Technician trained from Toyota. He doesn't have the want or access to sell vehicles that I do so I told him I would assist with his personal vehicle. Porsche's, Ferrari's, BMW's, etc are business....This is a hobby and I hope everyone on this forum can appreciate/understand. If your mechanic, lawyer or doctor friend offered free service it would be foolish not to take it! Anyway, if anyone has any questions on the unrestored BJ40 then I will be happy to answer them. The pictures and description are representative of what it is and I am open to to personal inspections by you or a friend in the Dallas area.

With 3 hours 41 minutes left, this puppy has had 10 bids....now at $23,600!!!!!.... and STILL hasn't met the reserve.

Cool BJ.... awfully underpowered with that B engine.... impressive it has so few miles.... I wouldn't want a rumor of rust at the prices this thing has been bid up to.... neat that it includes OEM replacement filters and injectors... who on earth destroyed its uniqueness by gouging out a sunroof!!!!...

I'd be relatively happy if I received half that price. Ah well. Good luck to the owner. Sure am curious as to what the reserve is. I've decided eBay posts that don't include a Buy It Now have a good chance of being "feelers only".

Simply put, I agree with Alaska Ranger...:D

I am curious about this. With a BJ40 like this, what sort of things make it valuable and what things what make it less valuable?

Were any Canadian diesel 40 series cruisers 12V?

I usually see BJ42s out of Canada. Is the rarer BJ40 worth more, less or the same to a collector? It is great that it is LHD drive, but are people as willing to buy the 3.0 engine, or are they all equally sought after?

Any input is appreciated, as I am casually looking for a diesel 40 series.

Nope, all were 24volt, but i'm sure this guy could tell you.

WOW!!! Nice truck, but does the 5% non-original include the sunroof, aux.fuel tank, 5-non original wheels, interesting cd player-fiberglass top-thingy???
Hope you get what its worth, seems clean otherwise from the interweb pics.

Looks like my 1984 BJ42 with 130K kms just went up in value!
Cheers!
