Just curious, is this thread still alive? Id love to see more of the tub progression. What were your prep, steps and completion for the exterior paint?

I may be starting a budget resto soon as well and this build will def. be a reference, looks great!

Sean,
Sorry for how long it's taken for me to write back on here.
For the body, I did a small amount of body filling for chips and small dents with bondo. I sanded it all down with my palm sander to roughen the old paint up, then primed what went down to metal. Then, wiped it all down with a damp rag several times. After that, let it dry well, then basically painted the hell out of it with flat green spray paint. For pics on how it turned out, see my next post.

And so it ends.
I've received orders to move to WA in a few months, and really don't have the time or money to finish this. I never thought I'd be that guy who couldn't finish, but here I am. I was lucky enough to have met Dave (HopII) on a local forum who hooked me up with one of his buddies who wanted a project. He just came and picked it up.
To all you that have helped me, I thank you. I really couldn't have made it where I did make it without you. You have taught me a lot, and this experience will always be remembered. Hopefully, I'll be able to start another project sometime in the future.
Sorry to those of you who have read this entire post looking for the final result; this must be very anti-climactic for you... I feel the same.
Now for some parting shots of the cruiser getting taken away.
Thanks again.

Man, that sucks, but you got to do what you have to, there is always another on out there when life allows. What part of WA are you moving to? Good luck.

Thanks guys. I'm moving to Bangor area out on the peninsula. I've lived there before, and am from a town northeast of Seattle, so it will definitely be nice to go back!

Hey Mike. Bangor is where is my son is stationed. He is currently out on the USS Stennis but will be back to base on the 10th. There are a lot of rust free cruisers out there in the WA area. I am sure one of them has your name on it. Good Luck.

Mike-
There are a few WA guys on here. I too am from a town NE of Seattle (Bothell, WA). Are you speaking of that area? I, however, am not on the WET side any longer.

Good luck to you and sorry to see the end of your project. It is what it is (the saying that doesn't say anything, but says everything).
