That's my concern exactly with the flat colors. These stock Toyota colors are nice. They might look good with black canvas and white top/ bezel... oh black and white

I really dig that flat finish that TLC is putting on the ICON's.
Here are a few shots of my Dune Beige...(It's sporting a fresh repaint on the exterior) Is that what you meant by Sahara? or is there actually a color code "Sahara"? This is before the steel 70 series wheels were installed.
Here's another Beige or Tan (Just a little darker than mine) one from Burning Man.
And lastly one I think you will enjoy due to the topper on it. This one comes from one of your neighbors up in the great white north. It was built (The topper) using stainless steel hardware from Bimini tops in the boating world. It was tight and very high quality.

My first instinct was to go stock beige/tan. Now that is see this one it's easier to imagine. I'm not sure where I got Sahara from. I thought I saw it on the CCOT color page but I just checked and the only show beige and dune beige. Definitely my favorite color on a 40. Not much of a stretch to a 45.
I sure like this tan truck and topper combo. Very nice indeed.

So as of this particular moment my favorite color combos are...
Tan and Tan canvas with white bezel and cab roof
Silver and Black canvas with white bezel and silver roof (I don't think white roof would look good with the balck canvas)

My first thought was that a.greenspan is from Germany and perhaps they didn't import those years and the chart is a German color chart??

The early years didn't have the paint code on the vin tag. The colors and their codes prior to 68 are not easily found and I'm not sure the concrete evidence as to exactly what colors were offered has been produced. Treeroot has the best info i've ever seen from old dealer info.

The sides don't need windows I guess, but I do want them to roll up for that open air look. The cab top will be removable and I'll get a bikini top and half doors. The roll cage will support the bikini.
I want windows in the front and back to allow some blurred vision of the impending impact.....

I have always thought of putting an extra tank on my truck. I think I read on here somewhere that an S10 plastic gas tank would fit nicely inside the rails. We had quite a discussion about where to put the filler tube for a spare tank a few years ago in this section.
The original colour of my truck was Dune Biege but the PO painted the truck silver. The interior is still original though.
Let me know if you need an extra hand or to confirm a measurement. What part of town are you in? I'm just off Bow Trail.
My truck has a 2.5" belton lift.
Is that a pipe I see running from the rear crossmember to the spare tire winch? My '78 doesn't have that but it would sure make things easier.

I'm gonna put another tank back there for potable water. My two spares will mount to the side of the box behind each wheel hump.
I'm down in Bridlewood (read Spruce Meadows) - I work at Edmonton Trail and Mcknight Blvd.
As for the S10 tank - I'm going to fab a custom fit aluminum tank between the cab and rear diff and fill through the side of the box. My box will have a semi-permanent set of full length drawers and a custom fit deck on top of the drawers with four lockers in the corners. The deck will make the box about half as deep as it is normally. I can build around any filler fab that protrudes into the box.

In general having the tank in the cab is not ideal. Kind of unsafe. I'm going diesel but that burns too. I suppose one huge tank would be ok. What do I do with the stock filler in the corner of the cab? Maybe more water storage? Just blank it off? Storage drawers under both sides seat?
I was gonna use the stock fuel tank for daily driving and leave the aux normally empty.

I looked at the spare winch tube and it seems to be a PO mod. Just a piece of scrap tube welded poorly in place. Your still welcome to it though.
The crossmember and winch are also up for grabs if you or anyone else needs them. I'm going to take it out tomorrow and mock up a cardboard tank to be replicated in 3/16" aluminum and bolt up right where the crossmember is.

I was all ready to grind off the rivets until I realized the thing was just bolted in. A little penetrating fluid and 12mm wrench did the trick.
This will give me much more space for a water tank. I plan on hot showers on the trail and the kitchen sink.
The tire winch and crossmember are in great shape. I have other plans for my spares and won't need it.
