1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 – Solid Driver, Light Rust Bubbles, Small Seat Rips – $28,500 OBO
Located in Spring Hill, TN – Clean Tennessee title in hand
Traded my Model T and a pickup truck for this a year ago. It’s been my weekend cruiser and light trail rig. Runs, drives, and stops great – no funny noises, 4WD works perfectly. It has never let me down.
The good:
Price: $22,500 or best reasonable offer. Not desperate, not giving it away. Cash, wire, or cashier’s check. Happy to help load for your shipper.
PM me with your number if you want to talk or FaceTime. I will answer any question. First cash or trade gets it. Might consider trade toward a ‘60s Mustang Convertible.
Thanks – let’s get this Cruiser to someone who’ll keep wheeling it! The good trails are just a little too far from my house.

The good:
- Garage kept
- Original 2F 4.2L inline-six – strong, no leaks, starts hot or cold
- 12k winch
- 4-speed manual shifts smooth, clutch is excellent
- Recent (2024) tune-up, new plugs, fluids, oil filter
- Newer 32×10.50 All-Terrains with on 16” wagon wheels and plenty of tread
- Original height - not lifted
- Power steering conversion included but not installed.
- Full hardtop all included
- All lights, wipers, gauges, horn usually work, but there’s a loose ground somewhere
- Light surface rust bubbles under doors, including rear– typical for an unrestored ’78. Frame and floors are pretty good. I can crawl under and take close-ups for serious buyers.
- Front seats have a few small rips/tears on the bolsters (driver side about 3”, passenger about 2”). Still totally usable, but could use seat covers or a re-upholster if you want perfect. No rear seats.
- Dash has the usual cracks, radio and heater are not connected (I use a Bluetooth speaker)
- Paint shines nicely, but up close you can see some rust bubbles in the usual spots.
- Frame is solid and rust-free
