Sweet!

Day 1

The guys started taking her apart today. I was surprised how far they got. Over the weekend I am going to take an initial inventory on what the needs are. Can anyone recommend a good weather striping vendor -- I'm thinking of cruiserparts.net.

See below for some pics from today.

Enjoy the weekend guys with your Cruisers - I sure am missing mine.

That would be $28,379.79 today using this calculator. The heater would be a $233 option.

Cool!

Oddly enough that is about what a fully restored- all original 78 is worth today. Few years ago more and a few years from now more(fingers crossed).

33 years and still held it's value. Not bad for a auto. Maybe in 10 these will start going like the corvettes do at Barrett Auction.

Day 2

Continued to remove and evaluate parts. May have to replace the 2 front fenders, I need to determine if there is a difference ($) between sandblasting and metal-work vs just buying 2 new ones. Can anyone recommend a good vendor for the fenders?

Will try to get the tub off tomorrow and I will take more pics to post. The rain here in Arkansas has put the sandblasting behind a bit.

Later guys

Yeah, well I USED to live in FS but am now on Portland. I bet I either know you or know someone that knows you.

I just this week picked up a nice set of stock steelies from my 40 that have BFG MudT's 33x9.5x15. They are going to look super good after getting the white spoke wheels off.

I will follow your build. Looks good already.

Day 6

Sand blasting is complete:clap:

Back to the body shop for more work. May take about two weeks to repair the various body parts:

1. Rear sill needs to be replaced
2. All doors need skins
3. Front fenders need a little lovin'
4. A few minor places on the body

It's going pretty smooth so far. Have a good weekend guys!

Looking good so far! Nice to see some fellow Arkansans around here. I'm in Russellville and currently searching for my first 40. Seems like before I had the money I could find them everywhere. Now that I'm ready to buy they've all disappeared :bang:

Thanks guys. I've only seen a couple of 40's in the Fort Smith area. A buddy I work with had this one for a couple of years and I just kept hounding him to let me take it off his hands. He got it running mechanically sound, so my focus has been the suspension, tires, body, exterior/interior items and all the other details. I would really like to stay as original as possible on this project. This sight has been extremely helpful for me in deciding what look to go after.

Day 11

Not much work has been done on the body parts after the sandblasting, however I have started receiving packages from CCOT, SOR, Cruiser Corps, etc. Man, this is as exciting as Christmas

I have decided to remove the engine and axles from the frame and have the complete frame sandblasted treated/painted. WTF, I was almost there anyway. It is still going to take about two months but I'm jonesing to drive my "new" rig :steer:

Hopefully I'll post pics of the frame on Monday.

Gotta go now and order some new engine mounts.

Have a good weekend,

L J
