Hey gang,
I've been looking all over with no luck so trying a post.

I recently put a VintageAir AC system in and it works great. However, I now have an issue with getting the proper cha=rge from the alternator. The VA bracket they supply is not long enough to be able to tighten the belt enough to keep the alt pulley from slipping and hence failing to charge the batt. I;v tried a number of diff belts to no avail. Currently the closest one that seems to tighten is 1/2", 59-13/16" Gates. The VA compressor bracket really not great but it's what I got.

Has anyone already solved this issue? I have also tried filing out the bracket holes so I could slide it out a little further. I plan to do some more as it seemed to help[a bit but it would be great to have a properly designed solution.

Thanks!
Steve

I have a 1976 40 with Vintage Air and their supplied bracket and use a Napa B46 belt. The routing for my truck is shown in diagram on left below.

Outstanding, thank you. I do have the sag PS pump with its belt on the first groove with the crank, water pump and air pump. I am forced to offset my alt out to match up with the outer groove on the crank pulley and the compressor pulley. This also forces the belt to need to go around the water pump pulley. Makes for a long 59+" belt that does not, in my opinion, get enough purchase on the alt pulley to spin it. My opinion would be to offset the PS pump to the outer groove and set it up like the picture #2 or find a way to get this current set up tight enough. It's no urgent now as I plan to get a shorter belt for winter and just disconnect the compressor for now.
Thanks for the feedback.

My '77 2F had the original Vintage Air bracket and I swapped it out for the new style, < click here >.

For the Crank/WP/AComp, I use the NAPA Green Stripe TR22578
For the Crank/WP/PS/Alt, I use the NAPA Green Stripe TR22570
