I'm seriously looking at this BJ40. I would like some thoughts from the forum before I move forward. Besides the spot of rot on the roof pillar, the truck looks solid. Any tips on what to look for during the test drive would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Nice looking and complete, which is good. So hard to tell without a real close inspection. Use a magnet to check for metal/bondo areas on the tub, etc. A BJ40 should have the B engine which is uncommon compared to the 3B diesel which came on CDN trucks in 1981.

Wow, not surprised this didn't get over the reserve price with a ridiculous BIN price of $27k. Can't help but feel like that paint (body and undercarriage) is there to hide something. Lots of overspray, you'll get rust coming through that paint within 1-2 years. Looks like someone went through the truck to fix up cosmetics but not mechanicals. I'm thinking classic lipstick on a pig, especially given the used car sales pitch that BJ40s are 'rare' and 'desirable' because they weren't imported into the US. Also, the "European" origin of this truck despite a MPH speedo. I'm pretty sure UK cruisers were delivered RHD . . . ?

Looks like a 24volt. So probably a 41 being sold as a 40?
