Hi my friend is putting a 2.0 vw tdi in his 40. I was telling him he needs to get a 5 speed h55 and power steering.
Dose anyone have a h55 kicking around.

He’ll need a VW 5 speed. I don’t expect the H55
will couple to that engine without some kind of adapter plate.

If I’d be guessing, contact North West Fab. That’s up their alley.
Could try AdvancedAdapters, but I wouldn’t be too hopeful.

Entering that in the drag races?

I'd consider Toyota pickup drive train. Way cheaper than the cruiser stuff, and adapters are available for vw swaps.

Center rear output might be an issue, but there's ways around it.

He has it set up with the 4 speed using a vw to Chevy advances adapter kit. If it works I thinks it will be a cool build.

If it's the ALH TDI (1999.5-2003) then make sure to do an EGR delete. Also, with a stage 2 Malone tune (goes up to stage 6 iirc) those engines have decent pull...at least in their VW application.

Have fun!

The acme plate has had issues with clutch wearing out premature due to alignment issues, Kyle at NWF just took on a line of vw diesel adapter kits and is making up some nice stuff. As mentioned these conversions can cost upwards of 5k.

Ya he has done the delete and a Malone tune
