Wanted 1977-82 FJ40: retirement & marriage therapy

We live in Southwest Florida (retired from the Marine Corps). I recently parted ways with a 1968 FJ40, and now my wife says I need a new distraction. That said, another FJ40 would both help me stay clear of my wife, prevent our divorce, and not harm a fellow golfer.

The budget is reasonable.

Wish list:

Original to mostly original
Minimal rust
2F engine (mechanically sound)
Hardtop
Power steering is optional
Located in US (prefer a rig close to Florida)

I haven't seen it in person and I haven't owned an FJ40 myself. I can say this; I have sold two Land Cruisers out of Omaha. There is not as much interest in this region as there is in the southeast and the west. I sold an FJ62 and an FZJ80 both to the West coast. It took some time and some convincing that they were as solid as described. The very few that come up for sale around here tend to be bargains. I think buyers are reluctant to fly to Omaha or Wichita to look at Land Cruisers and, like I said, not much interest from the locals.

I used this Forum to find the leads. I received 10+ FJ40 buying opportunities. Also, I sent notes to a local Mud guys seeking leads. All helpful -

I found this rig on eBay (a Mud guy alerted me to it) and only purchased it after using this Forum to help on the due diligence.

I have a 78 fj40 for sale. It is in great shape, original 50000 miles and runs like a champ. Great buy if interested.
