Wow! You must be pretty excited after going through the process of re-building the truck. I just finished looking through the many pictures that you linked.

Who did the various bits, like the media blasting and bodywork, etc? What would you do differently next time (if there is to be a next time)?

How come you didn't post up on a build thread as you went through the rebuild? I would have liked to have seen that anyhow.

I like a lot of things about the truck, however I was a bit nonplussed with what you did with the engine (before/after pics below). I can understand not wanting to crack it open if it was running decently, but why-oh-why did you paint EVERYTHING on the motor black like that, including the injector pump and lines?! I think the engine looked better before the paint was applied in copious quantities, but hey, one opinion is pretty much as good as another, and I hope you don't take the criticism badly.

You accomplished a lot and the truck looks great overall, plus you kept a cruiser on the road, so kudos for that.

Are you planning to keep the truck, or sell it? It looks like you have had quite a few different L/C's, looking at the table of contents on the linked page.

engine

Hello, Thank you for your kind comments about my restoration on the 45. Regarding the engine, when I purchased the truck the diesel engine had been rebuilt not that long ago. No running issues were found with it. Unfortunately when rebuilt they sprayed the entire engine moss green. Hoses clamps everything! Being a purist I wanted to dissasemble it and use correct colors etc... However, I could not warrant the extra time and cost when it ran perfectly. I opted for what I thought was the next best thing, a black engine.

The reason I did not post a bid up thread while doing the restoration is simple. There were times when I would get frustrated trying to find a part or with painting that I thought the project may never be finished. I have seen so many other projects get started and then sold in the middle just to be done with it. So I just decided to wait until the end. I do have a bio / list of what I used. I will include below.

maybe one day mine can look that nice

Thanks for sharing. Learn something new from every restoration posted here. I was wondering why my HJ didnt have a heater. I dont think the engine can get warm enough to even use a heater.

From what I gather is that your rig was probably shipped to a warm climate country. I have a troopy from panama that doesn't ahve a heater.

No electronics for it, no holes cut where the heater should go, etc
