I bought this unit in 1973 from florin road toyota new. I put in the chev 283 -in 1978, engine has about 50,000 on it -LC has about 150,000 oh her.-I had the over drive installed by toyota ( hornodrive ) on the rear on the tranfer box- changes the rear axle ratio from the 4:10 to 2:60 I think -changes the rpm 1000 . it has 4 roll bar system , has skid plate with the skid plate for the overdrive. I have a 2 hood for it , and a set of extra rear seats , and 5 new white spoke wheels for it -( I brought in 1979 never used them been in my barn ) oh this LC has been barn stotaged for over 20 years , I did start it and drove it in to my new garage about 3.5 years ago I have a dise brake front axle to to install in and some of the rear dic parts , I have a LOT of extra parts . OH no calf smog , and on the calif NON -OP. clean dmv. , brakes need work from sitting. I brought this right after I got out of high school . oh has wench bumper and a 6000# ramaze side winder wench on it . tow package with electric brake controler---------
1960-1983 Toyota FJ-40 model
The last of the capable and classic FJ-40s left our shores in 1983. But since then, this Toytoa has built an incredible following.
The FJ packed a torquey inline-six with a four-speed manual on later models, and had a stout drivetrain compared to 4X4s of the same time period. The FJ's durability, design, and reputation for reliability made it a favorite amongst those who like to venture off the highway.
These days, the values of the classic 4WD have soared and companies that specialize in the restoration of FJ-40s have popped up. Perfectly restored FJ-40s can go for more than $100,000 at the right auction.
