Lot's of changes in the past 6 months with new job, relocating and building a new house and so it's time to move on and my 40 needs a new home. I'm out of town right now and don't have my personal PC with pictures, but you can check some of my build threads on 'mud (and my content) to get an idea of my work. If you're inclined she'll do 80 mph down the freeway straight as an arrow. This is NOT a 'project', it's ready for the Rubicon or Fordyce today. I'll have pictures soon. But, here are the basics:
  • 5.3LS
  • Headers and dual exhaust, no crossover pipe in the front
  • Custom Radiator mount and aluminum fan shroud
  • Howell EFI harness and reprogrammed PCM (Programmed for the current power train configuration, everything else is deleted so you don't get error codes for stuff the PCM isn't hooked to)
    • The harness has an extra long trunk line to get it out of harm's way and into the passenger compartment.
  • Engine and Chassis electrical are separate
  • In-tank fuel pump
  • Custom built 4L60e w/9 disk clutch packs (3/4)
  • Separate fan-driven trans cooler
  • Lokar shifter
  • Track Bar
  • SOA w/OME FJ60 springs (new last year) and shackle reversal
  • Wheel base is approx. 100"
  • Custom Skid plate covers engine oil pan too.
  • Sliders
  • Heavy duty frame-mounted ice chest and tire carrier
  • Metal Tech 'Family' cage
  • Metal Tech nose guard and stinger
  • Orion t-case w/twin sticks
  • FZJ80 FF rear axle w/Detroit Locker
  • 'Stretched' FJ62 front axle w/ARB
  • Fine spline pinions front and rear w/spare fine spline third member
  • 4X4 Labs Frombe High Steer
  • Power Tank w/Cage mount
  • Obviously it's 4-wheel disk brakes, and has a FJ80 non-ABS MC
  • Fuel lines, transmission cooler lines and P/S lines are all AN fittings and braided hose (no cheesy rubber hose, barbed fittings and hose clamps). No holes with grommets through the sheet metal, bulkhead fittings where appropriate.
  • Fuel System is plumbed to bypass with external pump for emergencies
  • Power seats with harnesses
  • Ruff Stuff parts used almost exclusively on the suspension
  • Speedo and P-brake cables were commercially built for the longer length, no hokey stuff.
  • Front and rear recovery points and trailer hitch
  • No rot or cancer
  • Warn 8274
  • Clean OEM dash - no redneck hatchet work
  • Center console with Marine AM/FM Radio with Bluetooth
  • Rust-free OEM drop down tail gate with original hardware.
  • Hey, it even has the OEM rear floor mat (minus the backing that rots the floor)
  • Super reliable rig, professionally built, not a hatchet job.
  • Great 'patina', or character if you will, so you don't look like a noob ;)
