Ok so i am listing my 1972 FJ40 for sale. I moved to Texas from Montana about 7 months ago and never had the time or the money to transport this Land cruiser down..... so there is sits in Montana getting no use.
first off it needs some work.
-Power steering pump-
Before i moved I installed Saginaw power steering. I used a remote type pump and have had nothing but problems with it. iv gone through two pumps in 6 months of using the system. I have a serpentine system for the motor with everything you need that will go with the cruiser.
-Overheating issue-
After i installed the 700r4 transmission i have had an overheating issue. Im guessing from the added drag on the motor, plus the added coolers in front of the radiator. It has an electric fan. i was planning on building a shroud and installing the fore mentioned serpentine system with a mechanical fan. Im confident that will resolve the issue.
-Transfer case adapter cross member-
After the 700r4 install i discovered that the combo of the 700r4 and the adapter that mates the tranny to the t/case need to be supported. I installed the combo with only a cross member behind the t/case. this all resulted in a leak between the adapter and the transmission. Plus it stripped the holes that hold the adapter to the transmission. This needs to be addressed before it can be taken off road. I planned on removing the transfer case and adapter and addressing the issue with a new cross member and re threading the transmission.

I think thats about it...... this thing has been a project and before all the mentioned issues poped up it was a very reliable trail rig! It fires right up and runs great with plenty of power from the 350. I have yet to hit a trail( some very technical) that i haven't been able to conquer. Some i dont even bother with 4wd cause the Aussie locker is just that good. I would rather keep this and fix it and use it for my own devices but i need to sell it. it need some work but for some one with low to medium mechanical skills this could be a GEM!!!
im asking $ 8000
I have very limited pictures of it cause im 1800 miles away but i can get family to take more detailed and interior pics.
if there is interest in the cruiser closer to Montana i have family that can help with the sale and if there is interest in Texas or close to i can arrange for the transport of the unit down here if the buyer is willing to help with expenses.
if you want more details and pics the best way to get ahold of me is either:
