1971 FJ40 w/ 76k on the clock
Located 60 miles south of Chicago
Asking was $5,800 - NOW $4,400

She looks very nice and runs well too. Starts a little cold in the winter, but the choke takes care of it. Everything is stock, except for the 2.5 lift, 33 tires, and OME springs. Hate to get rid of her but the wife says the jumpers are not made for car seats. Go figure.

Known issues:
Wipers do not work - cause unknown
Head/tail lights do not work - I hit the fuse box with my foot and broke off one of the pegs that holds the fuse in. Pretty easy fix.
Rear diamond plating - who knows whats behind it - JUst being honest.
No hard top or Doors - All you get is the rags shown.
Also I have a Rear gas/H20 holder but don't have pics of it with it on, dog can't in with it on. Will try to get one this weekend.

I am an oil change guy and that's it. So technical questions will assuredly be met with ignorance, sorry. But if you have questions I will be glad to try my best to answer them. I have pics and will email them if needed. I can't seem to resize my pics to get them on this post, so I'll emial them or if someone could explain resizing I will post them here.
Thanks, Todd

I have sent emails out to those who requsted them. If anyone can help me get them up here in this post that would be great. I need to "resize" them. Thanks again.

Also would be willing to entertain a trade for an 80, that I would use as a DD. Good shape and reliable, as I would be toting the kids in it. I would give the car + $$$. Not expecting a straight trade.

I have more pics, if anyone is interested. But I will have to email them to you as they avg. about 1.5M per pic. Just be sure that your email can handle the size or it may get bounced. If you want further pics just give me details and I'll send them right out.

Any pointers on how to sell my rig? The wife is getting restless. I know it takes time, and I'm cool with that, but any suggestions? Is the price way out of line? Thanks in advance for the input.

1971's do not command 6K unless they are clean original vehicles....

You could Ebay it.

I do not think that you will see 4K+ for it out there, or out here but that is just me. I would have a hard time spending that kind of money on something that does not have a hard top and doors, has diamond plate mounted to the body, and has the electrical issues that you have described. Further, unless you have signed documentation on the mileage, that could be 76,319, or 176,319, or 276,319 or more.

Thanks for the input, I guess I don't have the quality needed to sell here. Guess I'll try ebay/craigslist in a few days. In the meanwhile if anyone has any interest shoot me an offer, to see if we can make something happen. Sorry if I offended anyone on this forum with my rig/trying to sell it.
Thanks, Todd

Todd -

No one is offended and you're more than welcome to post any vehicle in any condition at any price you like.

Good Luck!

I'd like to buy cruisers where Poser gets them :D I don't think $4400. is out of line by much on the west coast, though $2500. -$3000. would be more like it in most other parts of the country.

One thing though - whenever I see a seller say something like "pretty easy fix" I always think "So why don't you fix it?"
I don't like to use negative language when listing somethig for sale - it puts buyers in a negative frame of mind and will override a lot of positives. In other words - tell 'em what's GOOD about it and let them find what's not good on their own.

thnaks for the input, I was just trying to be fair and honest with everyone. But that might be the way to go if it ends up on ebay. I hope it dosen't....

for those who have contacted me I have sent out various PM's and emails. Those who have requested further pics, I will have them out by thursday evening. The weather here is rather bad and with work and all it will take a few days to get to where I have her stored. Please be patient. If anyone has any further questions feel free to contact me.
Thanks, Todd
