Congratulations

You've joined a very special society/fraternity. This will be your best place for advice, encouragement, tech specs, real world experience, and occasionally possibly a shoulder to lean/cry on. No better group of guys anywhere. Enjoy your oddesy!

Look forward to frequent updates!

May want to post a location for the guys that are close to know where you are. ;)

Yeah baby! Congrats on your purchase and we look forward to seeing more of this newest swine:cheers:

thanks i have a suspicion that the engine and axles are different then whats in the pig, i didnt get a good look at the axles in it, but one of the extra axles is a ball and claw..i thought i read that the ball and claws were only in the 68' and previous

Nice find. It looks sweet for 750. I mean for 750 around here that first pic would be missing all the glass and most everything else. It looks like you got a great deal.

well i got home yesterday took a bunch more pics for documentation, and started doing some work..got the carb off, i had ordered a rebuild kit for it from napa while i was at school but it hasnt arrived yet, got the manifold, ignition coil, and distributor out. Then i ran into my problem i took off the bolts that hold the top end on, yet it wont come off.. the haynes repair manual said to take off the side engine cover but they show a pic of them taking the top end off with the side cover still on? idk anyway heres a few more pics of the truck

That is right, the "ball and claw" axle would probably pre-date the '55. Not worth much other than to an purist as they are not disc compatible (I tried with poor results).

update

i have not updated my project in a long time so heres what has been going on, I took the extra engine my truck came with (2f) to a machine shop where im having it rebuilt, in the mean time i started playing with the brakes, ordered a front disc conversion from jt outfitters, i cant say i was pleased with the install because i had to force the caliber onto the rotor which i really questioned but after several calls to jt outfitters they assured me that was normal for their product heres a couple pictures
