Thanks for the info! I'm afraid SOR is a little late for this resto. My initial preference was to be more purist and go with year model correct color. Because i have a 79 2F, my practical reality was that I can't do a stock resto. I decided upon a Dune Beige body color and cut white running board mats. When installed next to the body color, the white was too stark and thus I went with the charcoal. I hope it compliments the gray upholstery.
I'll confess that (even though I haven't finished this one) I'm eyeing a candidate for my next project and I may get the chance to try the SOR. Anybody know a cure for this disease????????????
You will find out soon that this activity with Land Cruisers is not a disease, But really a PASSION. There is no cure..........................

Moved the hubcap posts to their own thread. Now you'll have to post an update to stay on the first page. :)

Carb help needed! I have a 79 2F and A carb manufactured in April 73. The carb is not retaining gas in between starts, is leaking gas in the front area where date code is, and the spring operated by the choke cable is shot.
What is or are my best repair or replacement options?

looks like it's leaking at the gasket. that can be replaced if that's the issue

Thanks for the reply! I apologize for not being more clear but I don't know enough about carbs to ask an intelligent question.
As you will soon see, I don't know the part names. From what I can tell, the vertical, rubber bellows(foreground in last pic maybe accelerator pump???) is worn and leaking. Also the choke mechanism (to which the Choke cable is attached in pics 4 and 5) springs appear to be shot. When the choke cable is pulled, the mechanism pulls downward rather than horizontally. Lastly it is not retaining gas in between daily or weekly starts although the only leak I can see is from the bellows. Once cranked, i can cut off and restart but not after a day or so in between.
I am concerned that my problems extend beyond a rebuild kit or my ability to repair. I was hoping to replace the carb (prefer to keep Aisin) or send it out to have it professionally repaired.
My mechanical skills are limited to parts swapping at best. I can take a "unit" off and I can replace a 'unit". When I start trying to remove 'parts" from a unit is where I get into trouble.
any help or suggestions appreciated!

Pics of the heater control valve and solid runs.
Will continue to work to finish the heater and will post up

are you using a valve at the front also where it ties into the water pump? Post photo if you have it, I'm in the middle of replacing my water pump and trying to understand how to update it from the dealer added heater. Mine looks like water pump had an ithreaded that the dealer added the valve and heater lines to. Just trying to know how to tie into the water pump. What was your source/part no. for the 'cheap' heater vent air hoses? thanks.

Hi
No, I'm not using a valve in the front. Although a 66, mine has a 79 2F . unfortunately I don't know how to post up pics after Mud went away from the tapatalk app.
As far as the heater vent hoses:
Mighty Flow
PreHeater Hose
96038
1 9/16" x 21" (3.97cm x 53.34 cm)
I believe Advance or Autozone
Glad to help ya anyway I can
