I have reluctantly decided to sell my 1966 fj40. It is much loved but also much neglected. The ethical thing to do is to find it a good home.

It starts and runs. Will include the hard top, roof rack, soft top, bikini top, soft half doors, and hard doors.

Over the past few years I have been cleaning up the smaller rust spots and applying a rust converter and paint. As you see in the pictures there is still plenty of rust remediation for the next owner.

Here are a few additional details to assist potential buyers (FYI only; not intended as a legal disclosure):

  • Odometer doesn’t work - I have no idea about the mileage
  • Speedometer doesn’t work
  • Newer (within last ~6 years) carburetor, starter, and distributor
  • 4WD works great
  • Headlights, blinkers, brake lights, and wiper recently stop working – I’ve checked the easy stuff (fuses, new lights, connections) but haven’t yet found the culprit

This fj40 is currently located in the upstate of South Carolina. I am the third owner in the last 12 years. Prior owner had the cruiser in Utah and Florida.

Asking $4000.

For.once I'm thankful to be broke.

Thanks for the interest in my fj40. I ended up getting a full price offer. It took about a week and a half.

The new owner has a history of fixing up old rigs.

Maybe this will be a data point for folks buying/selling similar rigs in the future.

Do you know if the buyer is a Mud member? I'd like to follow the restoration of this rig.
