No tunnels to explore, just the ruins of the topside. The vertical shaft was really deep. The hoists were still in place, but the head frame had been knocked down.

Great pictures! I miss Phoenix *every day*, the ability to go out and explore without driving hours and hours was something I enjoyed a lot when I lived there! I love Texas, but damn, it's 8+ hours in any direction to get out of the state and the amount of explorable public land in the state is negligible.

Went out yesterday and ran up Turkey Creek to check out the Thunderbolt Mine. The weather was beautiful and the creek had nice flowing water.
My LX would not shift into low range as the shifter was stuck, so I road with my friend.

Swapped the tcase today. Had a friend help and it took a leisurely 6ish hours. Cleaned up a few things, greased the driveshafts, and gave the tbars a few cranks up.
Test drive went well. Feels alittle more lively and low is definitely lower. The tcase stilled seemed hot though. After a 5 mile drive averaging about 45 mph, the case was 185 degrees.
I plan to drive it a bit more, then replace the gear oil with some good stuff. We'll see how it goes.
I forgot to get pix.....

Test drive successful. You can definitely feel an improvement in acceleration. It almost starts to peel out around a corner when on the gas.....lol

I think this was the worst job I have preformed on the LX so far.

My friend took this pic. If you zoom in on the small tree on the right side of the road..... you can spot the bear.
We went to Dane Spring to fill up on spring water. Cold and refreshing.
