Ya, hurry up, you have lots of questions to answer and a lot of work to do :D

As far as the battery tray......I guess my main concern is clearence issues with anything around it, mainly the shaft from the firewall to the saginaw box up front. Never thought about the voltage drop, but I can't imagine a 3 extra feet of heavy cable will make to big of difference.

Just want to make sure it clears that steering shaft or anything else I can't think of right now?

Matt

Hey Matt, your rig is coming along great dude. I've been checking everyday on it! Glad you liked the radiator, I was real happy to meet you in person as well.

The driver side battery mount should work fine for you, it mounts pretty high above the steering shaft. You may have more of an issue with the steering shaft depending on what type of exhaust manifolds you go with.

Keep up the great work!

Nevermind, I just saw your rams horn manifolds. Good choice. You shouldnt have any fitment issues at all.

Hi Steve,

I actually was on the phone with one of your guys this morning. The Left/drivers side shock tower battery tray mount should be going out 3 day select today :D So keep an eye out for it and make sure it goes out today ;)

You know, I never did post any pics of your guys place (Man-a-fre) or you that I took when I was down there a couple months ago.

We'll....now I have. Pics of Steve-O in the shades on the left and one of his mechanics (sorry forgot his name), although I do remember he had 2 FJ45swb pick ups, my buddy Scott that was with me also in the pic. Also a random pic of the warehouse of parts....lots of cool stuff in there

Thanks for the info, Matt

Stock location on late 40s with A/C was further back on the passenger side (not sure you have room w/ the v8). Driver's side should work fine.

Got some more done on the lv tonight, mostly seat stuff.

I was able to round up some 2.5" x 2.5" square stock today. Cut it at a slight angle, 15" at the bottom to fit the lv mounting seat box on the floor and then tapered it to 15.5" to be flush with my seat frame. I then drilled 2 - 3/8" holes in each one to line up with the lv's stock holes. You have to put your hand inside the square stock to install the bolts into the floor.

I then sleeved the 2 U channel pieces with 3/4" square stock, each 40" long. After sleeving them together I welded the seam and then ground it down. I took the frame and lined it up evenly on the square stock mounts and tacked it in. I then had to cut 1/4" angle iron and 1/4" flat stock to make pads for the seat to sit on, also more meat to tap into when I fasten the seat, although I think the frame would have been good enough. Each piece was 2" long, I think the pics kinda show what I did.

Fit the seats in, marked the holes and tapped them. After the seats were bolted in I got the wife out and had her try out my steering column to determine the length I want to order. My column consists of a 40" long piece of 1 1/2 PVC with a glue on connector to 1.5" MPT. I then took a 5 gallon bucket lid and drilled a 1 3/4" hole with a hole saw in the lid and fastened it with a 1.5" electrical conduit nut. I then determined the what the length of the column could be and made references to it on the lower end, so I could see what length it was when she was happy. Needless to say 28" column is the happy place. :)

After all that was done I took the seats out and my new frame and welded it up solid and cleaned it up a bit with a grinder. Looks a little rough in the pics because of the weld spatter, but a few minutes with the sandblaster and some base/clear with gun metal grey, I think it's going to look pretty factory.

Anyway, few pics of tonights progress.

Initially I was thinking there, but just not a lot of room after the 79 coolant, wiper fluid bottles up there. I think the drivers side will work fine with the tray I ordered today from Man-a-fre.

Thanks, Matt

Need a favor........

If any of the LV boys or girls get a chance can you take a few photos underneath the dash. Specificly of where the clutch and brake pedals attach underneath there.

I will post a pic up of some questions I have and a few parts I'm not sure where they go

I think some candid shots of that area might shed some light on things.

Thanks, Matt

First pic. What is it and where does it go?

2nd pic. Which is the brake and which is the clutch pedal? Don't need the clutch pedal, just wondering which one is which.

3rd pic. Kinda an example of what I need and more :)

Thanks, Matt

Wow thats a bad picture of me, I look pretty gumpy! Your battery tray is definately leaving today, you should see it Friday. ;) The mechanic in the picture was Robert, heres a pic of one of his 45's. Its all camo now though.

Steve

I know that cruiser, that used to be in the old sor catolog man i always wondered what happend to it.

nice

yup, i have seen it at sor a couple of times. cool theme.

Thanks George for the pics. I'll take more from you and anyone else for that matter.

In the pics you posted I believe the pedal on the left in my pic is the gas pedal. Bend looks the same and also you can see the return springs on yours are on the inside of each pedal. In my pic you can see the groove for the springs, they are backwards in the pic I took.

I still don't know what that first pic and piece are for?

There are some threaded nuts up there around the pedal assembly, trying to figure what all goes into that stuff?

Thanks, Matt
