I was playing around the other day on a Toyota parts website and found 2 parts that floored me when I saw the cost. So much so that I looked up the equivalent parts for the LX and they were even more expensive which wasn't unexpected. We all talk about the cost of cam valley repairs, Lexus suspension repairs ect. but if one of the below fails most would love to pay full retail plus a tip for those repairs instead of this:

Granted I haven't heard of these components failing but if the do, the truck is really not drivable long term. Is there a repair process/core credit? If the A/C switches fail is the entire $7000 plus unit scrapped? Just curious to know if anyone has considered this. After market really isn't an option due to so many functions integrated into the "dash control unit".

Trying this again...

Those components are the primary reason I opted for the Toyota extended warranty. On my old 100-series the display failed 6-months after the standard warranty ended. I don’t remember the price for the 100-series part but remember it was more than what I paid for the extended warranty.

I’ve had my lower portion apart to fix a smashed volume control knob. The button mechanisms are just electrical components and can be repaired or replaced fairly easily. It is an internal fault that I’d be worried about.

It’s a reasonable assumption that the buttons on the side of the main display would be similar.

Plus, there are a lot of 200 owners here and we barely ever hear about failures of the nav unit. Granted not many yet with substantial mileage but we’re getting there.
