My OEM hose ist kaput, cracked, no longer useable.

Metal vacuum tube fitting inserts into the upper port. Looking for ideas on how I can recreate that port on this silicone hose I picked up to replace the cracked hose?

For the lower hole on the OEM hose in the first pic, I can just use the OEM hardware and tubing pictured below:

But what is the purpose of this hose? It goes from the OEM hose that connects the air cleaner to the turbo compressor and connects to nothing on the other end (zip tied to itself).

Thanks

i believe the original hose is still available from Mr. T. I know I had a new replacement that went with my old BJ74 when I sold it earlier this year.

Interesting. I didn't work too hard trying to find it other than plugging the part number into partsouq, megazip and amayama and no luck with any. I'll do some more digging.

It has been almost three years since I ordered the parts so it is possible that Mr. T discontinued them. As I recall, it was actually reasonably priced ....

I just encountered your problem. I saw two options:
Drilling and adding a port on the metal elbow before the PCV or adding a vacuum fitting to the hose.
I ended up just drilling into the hose and using “FTG-QuickTap-CompHSG” (google this) for boost ports.

Thanks for that @saltycoconuts. Looking at some images of the OEM part from other threads and google, it appears mine has been modified for the fitting and tubing in the last pic I posted. Do I even need this? What purpose does it serve?

Oh shoot I just saw that big ol hole in your hose. I thought you were referring to replicating the vacuum port. I have no idea what that thing is. But I can tell you that I don’t have one haha.

I was referring to replicating the vacuum port and will use what you recommended. But still wondering about the other doohickey...

For anyone chasing the discontinued Toyota 17882-58080 air intake hose, I’m working with a rubber manufacturer on a proper aftermarket replacement (EPDM, molded, correct side port, OEM-style).

If all goes well, there should be new hoses available in a few months. Just wanted to let folks know something is in the works.

I’ll update once production is confirmed.
