oreilys test specs say the low end acceptable voltage is 13.4 volts; they will try to tell you it is still good, even if it isn't. their bench also does NOT measure amps, so not really much of a test bench. certainly not up to snuff by FSM standards. Find the old dirty dark alternator shop in the industrial district; I don't think windings are available anymore- that's what was wrong with mine- the voltage reg is available, but costs about $130. regardless, the windings are what gets cooked. the old alt shop should be able to steer you straight. they hooked me up with a free new aftermarket fj80 alt after determining that they billed me for a repair that was not right- a year and 2 weeks later...without a receipt. try finding that kind of service at your FLAPS...
