You got me breathing faster, for a minute. Fifth year now, and I never discovered that 12 v socket?

Went out to check. No socket. Even checked the Owners Manual: No mention of the darn thing.
Suppose that would be the same for all European models, at least the 2001. Or ??

Now that you say it, my manual doesn't mention it either.

 - you had me going there!

I just popped out, emptied all the junk out (TomTom, CDs etc) and lifted the little mat .... only to find 4 hex bolt heads and another circular scored area in the corner next to where the CD changer riser is located.

I imagine that that scored circle is where you guys have the extra 12v?

I'm curious now what's under there and may well get those bolts undone tomorrow to see if there's an annitional 12v feed ...

The little fitted mat that I lifted had a white tab stuck to its underside covering the circular scored area ??

I'll try and grab a piccy when its light.

Here's the bottom of my centre console ...

Took the bolts out but couldn't remove the housing - anyone any hints? Do I need to remove the cd changer first (please don't say yes!) ...

I just sense that there is a lovely 12v supply just waiting for me under there :grinpimp:

Yes, that is a factory coolbox however the one pictured is for the wider center consoles w/o the armrests. I believe they also made them for the narrower center consoles as well. Contact MOT on the board if you want one. But keep in mind, the cost might be the same or not much more for a real fridge/freezer (i.e. Engel, ARB, Waeco).

Wider console without armrests? Hmm. I'm not fond of the armrests - are they easy to remove without leaving obvious holes and is the wider center console available and simple to install? I'd definitely welcome more room in the center console.

I don't think it would be easy/possible as the center console seems to also include the parking brake handle (at least it does on my 98). This would pose a problem as JDM/Aus LC's are RHD. You'd need to find a LHD LC with the larger center console.

I like the adjustable armrest but I agree, a bigger center console would be nice. You can never have enough storage. Here's another pic:

Agreed - I wouldn't loose the wider center console... You can rest your arm on it just as you would do on an arm rest plus it gives GREAT storage.

(just wish I could get underneath mine to check on the presence of another 12v)

The center console on my LHD 100 is the larger one with a cool box.. I haven't seen the smaller center console in a 100 series here, ever.. I think the seats' arm rests on a US spec 100 would have to be removed to be able to install the larger center console/cool box..
