Hey Guys,

Just installed a top mount intercooler to my 12ht and thought I would post up some photos and info in case anyone is interested.

Parts
this intercooler: Turbo Intercooler 450x300x76 Universal FMIC Front Mount | eBay
2 x 3" 90 degree bends
3-2" 90 degree reducer
3-2" straight reducer
3" 90 degree bend.
clamps to match above.
intake adapter from ASETurbo
universal scoop
flat aluminum bar.

All up the installation took about 3 hours and was very simple and easy.

Looks good, mainly because it's exactly the route I followed and looks pretty much like my engine bay. :D

I've got two 9 inch fans currently mounted on top with a scoop. Looking at replacing with an array of high performance square fans (80sq or 92sq, or thereabouts).

havent done a propper test and done the finishing touches yet but it looks to have droped them by about 100-150 degdrees C

Might wanna consider a fan for it, you'll likely get some heat soak from the motor.

Yer i know the scoop on it for now is just remporary untill i find a better one, i might even make one. The seal is going on in the next couple of days just need to find one the right size.
 
That looks good and simple,ive seen pics of the front mounts and looks like a nightmare to plumb,I like this. Is it just the pipes and those two small brackets holding it on?

Sure is mate, its pretty tight and secure though.
 
Nice install ,i want to put a water to air intercooler on my 12ht soon but i looked at the ASE website and i couldn't see that inlet adaptor how did you get it off them ?

Called them up and ordered one over the phone, it wasn't cheap at $110.

Did you get the power and torque increase by simply adding the IC, or did you also increase boost and/or fuel?

Looks sharp either way.
 
from the intercooler, i had already increased boost and fuel
 
this is defiantly on my to do list soon!, i cant believe they charged $110 for that intake adapter ! , its just a triangle flange with a piece of pipe welded on it! it is made nice though. ill be making that bit at work for sure. nice install looks the goods very tidy.
