Unexpected quieting this morning

Did some hiking and light back-roading along the Current River. Also, loving the way my GX drives with a new steering rack and fresh alignment. It had some annoying side-to-side movement before that I can only presume was from slop in the rack bushings allowing the steering to wander a bit. Drives like brand new now.

Did a bit of light off roading in the National Forest.

Hello all,
Brand new around here... And I have a new to me used '04 GX470. Very nice rig & near mint - almost a shame to set it up for off roading.
It came with some ghetto wheels the dealer put on it, even though its just a 2 owner lowish miles vehicle (130K). 33x12.50 20's no less! They kinda fit and work ok on pavement...
Working on a 3"/2" lift, either TC, Camburg or Icon... Or? Hmmm...
...Just time & money. I do have a plan.
Very nice rig and probably the most deluxe vehicle I have ever owned, even being 18 years old lol.
Gonna read up on all the nice rigs here. 👍

Welcome! I also have an 04 blizzard pearl, and yeah not a fan of those rims, although they're definitely not the worst I've seen!

Looks goos TLar - I will probably do the bumper chop as you, front & rear. My wheels might have some sort of resale value to recoup some $$.
Trying to line up parts and not get into a 'supply chain' shortage so I can get a lift & wheels on by summer.
The wife really likes it (she thought she was going to hate it), so that is a plus for me moving forward.

I think I'm going to cut the front a little higher even. Didn't do a very straight cut the first time around and I think I may take it up to a few inches below the fog lights. Yeah I'm sure you could get a decent amount for them. I waited several months for my dobinsons lift to arrive, although I did order it during black Friday with everybody else. That's good, my wife hates mine after the lift and 35's 😅 it's pretty tall and not easy for her to get into. Good excuse for some sliders once I have funds for it. I also need to figure out my alignment issues as it's all over the road currently

nice! welcome!
Amazing community here, wonderful resource!
I'm thinking about Dob's MRAs, possibly IFP fronts, or Bilstein 6112s front (b/c bigger shock body, etc.).
definitely take off the running boards 1st thing!
@TLar25 yeah man, sliders!! great for everything, and wives and kids (as steps ;) )

I'm following DRANGED! I will be a little more specific with my hoped for setup... TC 2" over Expedition front with McQueeen fenders. TC rear setup to match the front. I am doing the pinch weld flatten & body mount chop also. Maybe it would fit 35's??? ...More than likely 295/70-17's. Probably to get the 'right look' the front bumper should come off and a plate steel bumper mounted up... We'll see on that one...
I aim to regear so the motor & trans work easy. A lot of cash to get it there, but still sort of budget, buying used, in the scheme of things (vs a full on Luxury Pre Runner build type vehicle).
One can hope the used vehicle I purchased is a solid base to build upon.

My next pic will be with the running boards removed!!! Lol

Should fit 35's relatively easy with those mods.

Stuff like this is helping convince me I need to move out of TX to somewhere with more public land lol
Happy for you man! Looks like a great time.
Thanks! I lived in Austin back in the late aughts. Loved the food, nightlife, and mild winters but really missed the public lands we have up here in MO.

Took my running boards off... Still running 33x12.50R20's street driven only at this point (or snowy lanes). Rub at full lock, and the fenders were trimmed already as I received this vehicle 2 weeks ago. ...Only minor rubbing. Loving this vehicle - The wife wants one too, but she will probably look at a more economical vehicle (she is frugal).
I will re-gear when a lift & increased tire size goes on in a month or so... It could use it.

Took my son off-roading along the Black River. Unfortunately, I'm going to need a new alignment....heard a "pop", noticed my steering was off-center, and noticed one of the LCA camber bolts had moved a bit. It was just aligned within the past month so hopefully they'll re-align for free.

Other than that, the GX performed flawlessly on some icy climbs, rutted and rocky trails, deep creek crossings, small mudholes, and when making some sand donuts.

So it wasn't my alignment causing the steering issue. I ran it back to the shop on Thursday and they assured me the alignment was perfect and the LCA cams had not moved. Today i pulled the skid plate and, sure enough, my steering rack bolts were a tad loose. Zipped them down with my new Milwaukee impact (last time i used the crummy HF impact) and it's back to steering and driving perfect.
