I'd check front bearings as well. Not a difficult or expensive fix, but it is messy. @cruiseroutfit sells a quality comprehensive kit with everything you need.

I had what I'd describe more as a creaking than a knocking which was most prevalent during left turns and acceleration uphill. Even when there was no creaking I also had some pretty bad vibration. It was amplified anytime I was towing my trailer.Hi, forgot to mention that front bearings had already been replaced as well... I am taking the car back to the local Toyota specialist, we'll see..
Hi, sorry I forgot to update this thread:I had what I'd describe more as a creaking than a knocking which was most prevalent during left turns and acceleration uphill. Even when there was no creaking I also had some pretty bad vibration. It was amplified anytime I was towing my trailer.
I replaced the driveshafts last fall which helped to a small degree. But just this past week I got around to replacing the axle and diff bushings. I did them at the same time so I can't say for sure, but I am almost certain all the vibration and possibly the creaking was due to my front diff bushing being completely shot. When I took the bolt out the center just fell out!
All my noises and vibrations are gone. So if you haven't checked or replaced those I'd look there. Lots of threads and youtube videos on this. And you can order them as a kit from cruiser outfitters among other places.
