I only hope that John brings a 100 with him -- to prove everyone wrong, of course...

If he doesnt....I WILL !!

I am very interested in running the Rubi...How bout us 100`ers crash an 80 party and show them what the 100 can REALLY do !! :flipoff2:

We're Norcal Wagons. We do not discriminate. A 100 is a wagon, just like the 60 or the 55.

Even though it's not stock, it's still very cool to see a 100 on the Rubicon! I wonder who's it is?

Cool:rolleyes: ?

Makes me sick. I think the guy if fool. Or rich. He did not have enough protection no sliders or rear bumper.

He wrecked a good looking 100.

Let me put it in a another way. Come over and do the 80con with us. You'll see what I mean.

No one mention the rear quarter panel trim or the busted fuel filler tube spewing gas all over the rocks... Ooops, I just did.

John, let's just say that if you are half the driver Amando is, you might be OK, but failing that, be prepared to be very chummy with your local body repair guy...

Tres Generacions. And I'll bring the Jagermeister, as usual...

Maybe Jeff will figure out how to make his Sapphire Bombay bomb work this year...

It isn't an 80 party. I will likely bring my 40 again. This past year we had 80s, a 60, a 40, a 4 Runner and a Minitruck, not to mention a nice 100 series. Look for it in mid to late August. Shotts-you really need to come. That would quiet the critics.

I have to laugh as I troll the 100 waters and notice so many great guys I know that don't actually have 100's either :grinpimp:

It's not like everyone is chomping at the bit to see anyone's 100 get spanked on the Rubicon is it

Shott's if you come over from AZ please contact me and we can do the "road test" portion of the 80 v. 100 on the way up

That is great !

A mix of vehicles is always more enjoyable, and usually more entertaining to watch ( especially when wheelbase and width vary a lot !)

I must say that I would rather wheel through a trail like that with all Toyotas though...less breakdowns, of course !! ;)

I would honestly love to come along and see what my rig is capable of, and more importantly, learn from some of the more experienced drivers who know the Rubicon fairly well.

May I ask how the 100 (that was included last year) performed ?

Don't underestimate the 'con. It will take a very good driver and an even better (with the patience of a saint) spotter to bring a mildly built (i.e. 2" lift and 33" tired) 100 through there unscathed.

The biggest challenge is not the size of the rocks you must climb over, but the size of the rocks you must avoid. Large stabs of granite and tight tolerance for a large vehicle like an 80 or 100.

I drove the trail at the tail end of the Rubithon in 2003, and better than half of the 80's in attendance had some damage (mostly flares, subsequently strapped to the rear tire or rack), but also included glass damage, door damage and more. These were are well built trucks with good drivers.

A 40 series (or the near stock Jeep I was driving) can just walk through that trail without a spotter and no drama. Not because a 40 (or Jeep) is a better trail vehicle than an 80 or 100, but because they ARE better for the Rubicon.

It was like the trail was molded a millenia ago for a 93" Wheelbase.

So, you're telling me that if someone gave you a 100 to drive through the Rubicon, you wouldn't do it because it didn't have sliders on it? Get off your high horse man. Would I do it to mine, NO, but I would do it if Mr. T gave me one. And yes, I think it's cool to see a 100 going through the Rubicon, no matter how much damage they do to the rockers and rear bumper.

Whoa Nelly. :D I don't think we have a chance to show off to 80-owners on the RUBICON. Trail is very tight and that's the 100's main problem. Size.

Wish I had that problem. :D

Why's that? Do all the 80's and LX's sustain body damage?

Not interested in doing that. :)

Besides...I'm not a dumb dumb. I'd bring the LX. The 100 is retired from that stuff. I plan on buying another 100 soon and building it for a trail like the Rubi.
