I'm rebuild my '83 yota. Looking for a large tank 100 litres or more to fit between the frame rails. What have you guys got? I dont want to do dual fuel tanks. anywhere I can get one? really need some help on this one, I've been on alot of forums lately and no one has any information for me. just throw some ideas at me, at the moment I'm up for whatever

I'd look at a Ford F150 pickup fuel tank. The ones ive looked at hold 18 gallons (almost 70 liters).

But heres a pic I found of a Ford E350 van tank mounted between the frame.

thats a great detailed picture. thanks man I was juggling the idea of dropping the E-series tank, but didnt want to deal with the ford internals much less the blemish a ford product would place on my yota :P I really want to go with a brand new tank now. The way I see it if I get one from a junk yard I still have to rebuild it and thats going to cost more than a brand new tank. but this is definately an option if worse come to worse :)

Are there any other ideas? I know you guys have them. you don't get a dump of views on a post with zero replies. I know you're all smart and itching to share your knowledge with me! :D

Excuse me while I go wipe my nose off...

PS - I just finished my SAS!!! I'm PUMPED! thats MY TRUCK NOW!

thats a great article. my main goal is to make this truck completely road legal tho. All my welds are being inspected by a welding inspector from the company I work for (canron western on annacis island in vancouver area) And from what people have been saying about the tank passing regulations and laws and whatever else, I dont think I would build my own tank. I'd rather pay the money knowing the tank is already good to go, and have no issues with it later on.

Do you or anyone else know of a company that builds tanks for a reasonable price? or a company that does fuel cells? I've been looking around and clearly I'm not looking in the right places. I would like to go with a fuel cell if I could. Order one in the dimensions that will fit roughly into the spot where the spare tire goes, or even where to stock tank was. I'm bobbing the frame, so either way it doesnt really matter.

Anymore ideas tho? you are actually helping me to narrow things down to what I want. Now I know I dont want a junk yard tank, and I dont want to build my own. So go with a fuel cell or tank...

hmmm... dumb question, whats the difference between a fuel cell and gas tank...

I assume we have to pay for membership to post pictures in threads eh?

hahaha for real? only a few more posts to go then I suppose...

Hey, so that marine fuel cell idea sounds cool, although I could do without the modifying. When i say rebuilding my truck.... I mean rebuild it.. not spend another year on it :P I want to get it back on the road as soon as I can. The less mods the better :)
