I am contemplating going from 33x10.5 to 33.12.5 but I was wondering how much those extra 2 inches can affect performance on the road. I got the stock 22r with 4:10 gears. Right now it isnt to bad but I can believe that 12.5 will have that much of an affect over 10.5 but lets hear if anybody has any real life experience with this. It is on a 84 and I have plenty of clearance. Engine is rebuilt with some extra goodies.

I have an '83 pickup that alternates between 33X12.50 bfg at's, 33X10.50 thornbirds & 35X12.50 bfg muds. It has 4.88's, but the difference in the tire size should feel about the same. I don't notice a difference in power or top speed between the 33's, but I can't tell you about fuel economy because I have never checked. The bias ply thornbirds make it feel like you are driving a shopping cart full of bowling balls, and the radial BFG's feel great. If you are running radials 10.50 wide, and switching to radials 12.50 wide then I think that any difference will be minor.

to me this decision is like having 4 slices of meat on my samwich or having 8.
its good either way, i cant notice much of a difference, but the bites are a bit bigger.
put on the extra 4 slices

I might try and keep one for a spare but right now I dont even have one. Probably just throw it in the bed anyways. It is bobbed so really not much use for carrying stuff.
