I'm making progress. Slow cause I don't do too much in one sitting and I'm dealing with a few stubborn bolts. I tend to be out there around 5:00 on if anyone want to drop by. BYOB. I pulled the rocker panel and rods today. Going for the manifold and oil pan tomorrow. Maybe the head.
Any of you cotton land guys have an Air Injection Rail aka manifold lying around? I damaged the severly rusted one on mine today.
Well, I finally flipped the clicker on all my ratchets and started tightening bolts instead of loosening them.
Anybody out there in Cottonland have a heatriser insulator in good shape they want to sell or donate? I'm trying to get the manifolds back together and my H.I. has a little crack in it.
I am looking for yet another tiny but significant part. All that stands between me having a running truck is a small piece of metal that looks like a ladies hat pin. Can anyone help me locate a valve train retainer clip? It goes on the end of the valve train after the tension spring to keep everything from bouncing around randomly under the valve cover. .76c + $13.00 postage and two weeks wait from $$$$$pector off-road!!!
Any of you guys know what the torque specs are for squeezing down the heatriser gaskets between the two manifolds? I broke an old bolt head off going too far on one. Trying not to repeat the mistake. Can't find it anywhere on mud or in the manuals. Surely someone has done this.
Thanks to John Mills for dropping off a retainer clip today and for helping me bolt down the head last night.
Well, after weeks of waiting, ordering parts, spending lots of $$$, dealing with sweat, mosquitos, wasps, deep frustration, sore muscles, bruised knuckles and learning tons about my 2f, tonight she cranked and ran for a few minutes before we shut her down. Tomorrow I will tune and try to drive a little.
Unutterable gratitude goes out to Greg Thompson and John Mills for lots of moral support, encouragement, technical advice and a good bit of wrench twisting. To Heath for dropping by and being a friend-- thanks for the bucket of rust remover that I never ended up using.
Have fun at the river tonight guys. Sorry I was too beat to make it.
Got the head gasket on right? Might be a blocked water jacket. What do I know? I've been drinkin' with the president of the trash. Just thought I would guess. I'm drunk!

I think the gasket must be right. It runs pretty well and the oil is nice and clean when I pull the dipstick. Whats a water jacket? I think the water pump might be bad.
The manifold is a mess too. I don't really know what I'm doing. But maybe I'll be there someday. I must have been DRUNK when I tried to "fix" that manifold. I could write a book called 101 Uses for a Belt Sander. I promise, attacking a perfectly innocent exhaust manifold will NOT be in it. It leaks like there's no tomorrow. Thinking about the next step. I ain't given' up!
Sorry I missed the fun. Had to work, then worked on the truck somemore.
Sounds like a header might be in order. Check with TPI4x4.com. Mine, Tony's and several more in the club came from TPI. I might have the stock manifold in the attic that came off my truck. It's yours if it will work. I will check tonight.

Yeah, a header is starting to look more and more appealing. Thanks alot for the offer of the manifold. I haven't decided what to do yet. Why did you switch to a header?
