Thinking about a set of 16x8 rims for my "soon to be shipped" HZJ73 so I can run Brdgstn Dueller AT Revo LT285/75R16's. Any recomends? Don't know which bolt pattern, offset and back spacing is required - can anyone give me the proper specs?

Thanks,

Peter

I just picked a nice aluminum rim from big O tires.. Its a multi fit 16" rim with a 6 bolt pattern.

So you should have no problem...

depends on the look you want, i like the factory steelies 16" skinnies. they have a great "outback look" to them. aprox $80-$90 at your local Toyota dealer.
i also have at 3 complete sets of aluminum that would fit your truck but you are a fair distance away.
do a quick search for back spacing which is crucial on a Land Cruiser due to the caliper distance.

cheers and congrates on your new purchase...

You can clear the TRE's in 16" with 4" backspacing. 3.5" backspacing is stock. You want 6 on 5.5 centers. JJ is part of the the stock designation. Good luck clearing the calipers.

Greg, does the JJ designation refer to the dishing of the wheel center? I just went through trial fitting a bunch of wheels yesterday. The larger 90+ caliper even on a 1990 truck still hits the wheel center in four of the four wheels I tried.

Uggg, the love to hate wheel fitting scene...

If memory is serving, it is the designation of the flange on the wheel. I edited to clarify. As you know, backspacing is the measured distance from the inner rim lip to the wms, and offset is the difference from the WMS to the centerline of the wheel. Not sure what definition is ued for clearance of the calipers, or even if there is one.

What style wheels where you looking to get?

16x8's can be an adventure to find. I've not seen a part number posted for an off the shelf solution. You can get some 16x8 chev knockoffs, with 4.5" BS, and then run 1.5" bolt on spacers. This is a way people get around the issue. There are some manufactures who will custom make wheels for you, to your spec. If you type in "16" wheel" or "custom wheels" there will be a number of treads giving information. There was talk about Taco wheels at some point too.

JJ is the height & shape of the bead lips. The higher the lips the smaller the back section of the wheel "mounting channel" has to be.

Hey petermac. I bought 4 toyota steel wheels (16X6) from Chassé Toyota (rue Rachel) And my 265/75/16 toyo MT fit very wheel on. Less than 80$ ... pm me if you want. The guys know me and make me special price.

Don't know for the HZJ73, put the 16X7 Tacoma wheel rub on my BJ70 tie rood.

Anyway... your looking for 16X8.... but if you change your mind, let me know if I can help you.

Bolt pattern is the same for all toyota truck (pick-up, 4runner, Landcruiser... Nissan truck to !)
Also, backspacing is a matter : toyota 16X6 - 3¾" and 16X7 - 4½"

Salut.

.... ah oui... don't forget to call me.... I want to see a HZJ73 with my eyes !

Thanks for all the info! I'm thinking I might go with 16x6's and forgoe the LT285/75/R16's in favor of the skinnier LT235/85R16's. Marginally shorter but the rims ought to be easier to find then the 16x8's, by the sounds of it.

255/85R16 not in the picture at all?

Haven't seen this size offered by either bridgestone or BFG for the AT's. What are the height and tread width of this size tire?

I'm leaning heavily towards the Bridgestone Dueller's. By all accounts the best AT on the market.

i am running the 235X85X16 Revos on stock 16" steelies on the PZJ75 and like the combo...

I run BFG Mud's 255/85r16 on 16x6 rims on a hzj75, great combination! High but not too wide, looks great too!

David, do you know if these wheels can be had in chrome like the 15" ones? Did they have to get them from their Toronto warehouse or did they have them in stcok (I can always wish)?

Chris

BTW, where are you located? I come down to MTL from time to time... Et je parle français comme toi ;)

Annnnnd... Sorry about the old thread revival!!! Didn't reliase the subject had been beaten to death, apparently...

Still looking for CHROME 16"x6" or 7" wheels à la BJ60 OEM...
