Ok, so it has always bothered me that the only turn signals for the front were on the valence, completely invisible from the side. I'd heard about using some sort of Tundra socket to make the corner marker lights into turn signals, but that sounded like a lot of work and rewiring of things, which didn't sound very appealing.

I started to wonder if I could just switch the sockets between the 2 housings. Well, low and behold, you can! Simply pull both lamps, remove the bulb socket from one and plug it into the other. Then reinstall. Voila! you now have a corner turn signal and a front valence marker light. I intend to tie my ARB lamps into the turn signal circuit, which will give me a signal light in the front again, but for the meantime, I think the corner lamps provide adequate signaling capacity.

Just wanted to let everyone know about a free/easy mod that I think is a great improvement over the stock design.

Seriously cool, I'm going to do this mod this weekend weather it's freezing or not.

Thanks!

Actually its not that hard to add a socket to the corner lights Slee has a good write up. I did mine in less than an hour. Bought to two sockets and two bulbs from Pep Boys and had lights on the corner, up front and on my bumper. I'm in the process of adding side marker lights which will give me even more visability.

I'm lost ......I have to go look at what the light do on the truck.

the things some of you guys think of

Just some suggestion don't just do the front but also add more light on the tailight.Go to Pepboys, Strauss or any auto store near you get pair of 1157 dual socket and replace those factory rear turn signal (1156) onto 1157 dual.Or you can make it much brighter with LED bulbs like mine on the pic.Just my .02

P.S: Ignore the bling-bling parts and for your own safety always disconnect the (-) battery terminal when do the electric in your rig.

sounds sweet and its free. ill also be doing this mod today:beer:

I think it was LR RESQ that did this a long time ago and I thought it was cool- I did my own version including the ARB signal in the mix.

Off topic, but FirstToy, do you have a stylist or something? All your illustrations look too nice for a mouse.

James is a professional artist, thats why he's drawings are so pretty. :D

Whether he has skillz or not is given. He MUST have a stylist! I want one so bad, then I can show off my l337 drawing skillz.

James would just as soon send a round-house kick to your head before he gave up his trade secrets.

:D

That said, I'd bet he used MS Paint for that image.
:grinpimp:

Paint? Maybe...but he used a stylist (like a pen) more than likely. I'm on a quest for a good one and if I see anything that looks as if one was used, I ask.

it's just a simple Wacom tablet- pretty standard for artists.

The next step is the wacom screen (20" screen sits flat on your desk and you "draw" directly on it)- that's like lockers in the digital art world :)

I use Photoshop mostly but any of those programs will do for simple doodles.

James,

How about a t-shirt with the second image on the back of it? :D

Very cool! ;)

Mot :)

I think this is how I have the park and signal lights on my supra setup. Curious though, with the park-lights on, do the signal lights flash opposite of each other or in unison? Also, I assume the one wire that isn't labeled (far left) is supposed to be W/B ?

With the running lights on, they flash opposite. If no lights are on, they flash in unison. The corner being lit is a nice fill light on dark roads

I drew that when I first did it so I wouldn't forget but of course... I forget! Well I probably didn't label it b/c it's a stock wire that I did not touch.

Also, I think OEM is reverse of what I labeled in the diagram. The diagram represents after I swapped bulbs, then added the ARB signal tapped into it.

I did this mod a long time ago that's why I blacked out my original turn signals just use the corner markers

can this pulling of lights etc still be done easily with the ARB bull bar on?
