Nice pics.

I have a couple, I think...I'll send what I have.

Schotts has one awesome wife. She was there smiling the whole day. Snapping photos and just having a great time. I don't think she was nervous at all.

Schotts might act all calm and cool now, but I think I have a photo somewhere that you can see the veins in his head. I should have taken some head shots because his facial expressions were priceless. He drove extremely well. He was extremely nervous. And probably rightfully so. I can't say that I wouldn't feel the same if I was in his shoes. I enjoyed seeing a 100 out on the trail. It was sort of like a glimpse into the future. I can remember 6 years ago when you'd see 2-3 80s on the trail. Now we are at that stage with 100s. Pretty soon there will probably be a run dominated by 100s.

I liked the idea of putting angle iron on the rear control arms to work as skids. Although, I think he rarely even came close to hitting them, at least on Spike he didn't bang them up.

I'd gladly hit the trail with you again some day.

I would be nervous too on a first major outing with an expensive truck... He did very well I thought.

FWIW, I did see some evidence of serious scraping on the little bits of armor on the pivot points. Of course, they do stick down a bit. Seems like a good mod to me.

*** Thanks much for the comments about Becky, Wish I could take credit for her being a wonderful person, but I can't. I just got lucky! :)
***And yes, she is a great co-pilot and seems to know when to give me her 2-cents worth about obstacles.

***Honestly, on some of those obstacles, mainly the big drop ledges I was freaked. I'd a bet the 100 that it was TOO BIG to run that trail and therefore I'd munch it. This was my main hang up. Now after running it and seeing just how much clearance overall I have, my nervous factor would drop 90%. :)

***I've only been wheeling (seriously) for 4 years. I've heard the Land Cruiser stories about 80's being snubbled when they came out and I've experienced 100-snubbing first-hand (as you all know). I always knew how amazing the 100 was simply from comparing it to the 80 out here in AZ. Now, after Spike and Fins, I'm even more amazed at how small the gap is in capability between the two (comparably equipped that is).

***I hit one on the Golden Stairs twice. I was babying the CV and kept trying with added power until I made it up. I did bend that one a bit. My mechanic made the skid plates about 3/4 too long on the 100. I'm going to have him trim them down. He did the 80 just right.

I'd gladly hit the trail with you again some day.

***Man, me too. What a great group of folks at CM! GREAT! :)

The angle iron on the arms is a great mod IMO. The steel plate on the control arm mount works well too though I need the 100 plates shortened to the length of the mount (like on my 80). My mechanic goobered those on the 100. :)

Schotts,

Are you running a locker in the front of the 100?

***I have my choice:
4W traction control
2W front traction control and Rear lock (BEST: Allows for full turning capability)
Rear lock (ARB) and front lock (ARB)

My original plan was to run Golden Spike (attempt it) unlocked using only traction control. Showing up with a bad CV joint killed that option though after running the trail I'd a bet I would have never had to lock a locker. There's so much traction up there! Especially true in the Crack. Thata been easy. Power shifts from the slipping wheel in the crack to the wheel on the rock and forward progress is a go. :)

Stock gears and 285's? How does it handle that on the road?

***Stock gears and 315's. Handles fantastic on and off road. Much better than stock.

Your spec sheet says 4.3 at the diffs. Is that stock?

Christo......don't start making me a bumper yet.

GX did sell though.

I am still leaning heavinly toward an LX over a 100.

4.3 = 4sp AT
4.1 = 5sp AT

The modified LX will give you a tad under 1-inch more lift than a modified LC will, though you'll need to count on the hydro shocks (which I probably would). Slee and I compared our when he had his LX.
