It's no scam, I know the owner (and he is on this board - drexx). It's sweet HDJ80, I've driven it too. I just don't have $35K lying around :)

It has been registered in a few states without much hassle. This in one of those that passed through the loopholes ;)

Thanks! Looks like a wonderful truck! Someone will be very happy with this one.

hummm, <drool> loop holes....

Drexx is legit. I know him personally and have seen the rig myself -- it's a very sweet rig.

HOW DID IT COME INTO THE US?

That's what I want to know!!!!!

Damn, what a rig.

My understanding is that it was a stock Gasser 80 series, and he brought in the 1HD-T from the Philipines, and had it installed in the US.

Craig.

No, it is a real Euro spec HDJ80 VX package with a 1HDFT.

truth be told...

I am still surprised its still not sold................

OK, now I'm gonna 'fess up. 'Coz my wife doesn't read this forums, & my Sacramento buddies Andy and Alvaro just recently forced it outta me, & a little beer made me do it ...

My wife (and that powerful voice of reason) says that it doesn't make financial sense to keep an HDJ-80 in the USA while we live here in the Philippines. And every molecule in my brain agrees with her --but the rest of me doesn't. And so is my son against the sale, saying that he'll be back to study in California anyway.

So, to keep her happy, I've put up a website that says I'm selling it. To answer her questions every now and then as to whether I've sold it & if I'm *really* doing anything about it (she's becoming suspicious everyday --she knows me too darn well), I give her a few names from people who says they're interested, then report back to her saying I've got good leads... but they somehow peter out for some unknown reason :)

If somebody does buy it for the amount I'm asking, I wouldn't turn it down. I'll be sad of course, like having a bright-and-glorious-son-going-away-to-get-married kind of sad, but I'll instantly convert that sadness to happiness because I'll be using 100% of the money to setup a non-profit Linux school for poor kids here in the Philippines.

Hey Drexx,

You can give your wife my name as a promising lead (and, gone sour later) just to keep your marriage together, for a little while longer at least. :D

Happy Holidays!

Hey Drexx, the most awesome thing that you could do for all of us (if your conscience allows) would be to tell us HOW the bloody thing got into the US in the first place?!?!?

Im here to tell you that if I had 35 grand available I'd buy her from you YESTERDAY!

Thanks,

TB

I have nothing to hide :D I bought the HDJ-80 from this entrepreneur in CO who sold the HDJ-80 to finance his venture into getting turbo-intercoolers for the 2UZ-FE (which I'm particularly interested in as a customer) in the USA. He in turn, bought it from a Czech in NM who got it from his homeland who later grew tired of it. In summary, I don't know the fine details on how it was first imported --what matters to me is that I got it registered in CA DMV, and with the blessings of the California Highway Patrol :) and fully-insured with AAA. VIN even shows up in Carfax...

[OT] Mot, thanks for lending me your name :D :D :D to tell my wife. If you can just PM me your real name and location, I can more easily report back to her with a straight face. :) :) :)

Thank you.

Damn, if it was done once it can be done again!!!!

If I win the lottery in the next few days I'll be calling you and offering you 40 grand for it!

No worries dude. I think you did the right thing in alerting the 'Cruiserworld about what you though was another possible scam :) I would have done the same.

I guess I just am not that famous yet :D

uzj100 intercooler

More about this uzj100 turbo/intercooler?

Something to note about getting foreign vehicles into the US.

I've been told in the past -- and it seems to be true based on what I've seen people do is this --

If you live outside the US and return to the US, you can bring 1 personal vehicle back with you. I don't know how long you have to live outside the country to be eligible; i.e. I don't think you can vacation for a month then bring back an 80.

I have a number of friends who have brought personal vehicles into the US from other countries without problems. This may be dependent on safety devices (DOT stuff, airbags, etc.).

Tying this into Drexx's explanation of the history of his rig, the Czech guy most likely brought his personal vehicle to the US.
