I just lifted my fj60 about 4 inches I want to go bigger in the tire section i'm running 31's right now. what the biggest tire that I can run on a tock rim? I belive they are 15x6.5. Thanks in advance guy's!!

33X9.50X15 is about as big as most of the guys running stock rims will go.

You can run any size that your tire installer can put on the rim.

I personally wouldn't go wider than a 10.5 tire, but height isn't an issue.

Exacly! Height doen't matter at all, I just want to get the biggest tire on the stock rims without having to buy new wheels. Thanks for the reply's fella's.

stock 60/2 wheels are 15x6. you can run a 33x9.5 with no issues, alot of guys run 33x10.5 but thats the MAX width.

here are 33x10.5s on stock wheels, personaly I didn't like the way they handled

So I went to a 15x8" wheel, with the same tire

Before I had 33x9.5's on the stock wheels

and the fj62(on the right) with 33x9.5's on stock wheels, no lift

IMOP 33x9.5 is perfect on the 6" wheels.......but like I said alot of guys run 10.5's

Very cool! I really appreciate it guy's! I really want to know what you guy's are running out there before I order or buy anything. Thanks!

Landpimp, those aren't 33x10.5's again on your 60 in the last pic next to your 62, are they? They look a WHOLE lot wider in the last pic than in the second. for reference. I have the tire dilemma too

I think that there are some swampers in 34X9.50, and 35x10.50. The 9.50 will work great on the stock rim. Not sure about 35x10.50 though.

yep, last pic is 33x10.5's on 15x8" wheels, Same as the 2nd pic

I'm def. going to go with 9.50's it's seems like they would be the best choice for the kind of driving that I do.

I had 33 x 10.50's bfg all-terrains on stock FJ60 rims for 1year...no problems what-so-ever. IMHO 9.50's are too narrow for such a heavy truck.

I have five stock wheel in very good conditon I need to sell that I ran 31x10.5 with stock springs for awhile. I like this size tires on the stock springs.

Don't forget about gearing.

I would not run 33x 10.5 with stock gears if you do a lot of offroading. It is better on the highway if it is flat, but you come to a hill on the highway people will be honking at you going 50. Then again Iowa is pretty flat.

After putting 32x11.5 on my 60 with stock 3.7 gears, I didn't like the loss of power on the hills.

Something also to consider first.

I have my 37x12.5R15 on the stock rims which are 15x7. No problem at all. I personally would prefer to have them on a 16” or 17” rim since I get a lot of tire deflection while driving aggressively on the street, but nothing to bad.

Narrow doesn't play as big a role in weight carrying capacity as sidewall strength does. The weight rating on the 9.5 tire is good for a combined weight of 10,140 lbs, more than most of us will ever carry.

Stepping up to the 10.5 gets you 260 more lbs total capacity on four tires. All things considered, that isn't much.

What is the final concensious? Will 33X10.50's work with stock rims on a stock saggy 1982 FJ60 suspension?
