I usually hunt the FJ60 threads, but my little brother just bought an 88 SR5 pickup with a 22RE, and is looking for a just a little more power. He evidently heard that there is an adjustment with the AFM that can gain some power.
Anybody got a easy adjustment thread to do this correctly/easily?

Any other advice/recommendations?

check the FAQ in this section. Jerod has outlined more power links to head in in the right direction and i dont reccomened the AFM adjustment. its only helpful when other serious mods have been done.

Yah, I'm with Wristy on this one. Cam, header, 2-1/4" exhaust, hi-flow cat and muffler, maybe bored throttle body.

Don't expect miracles though. It's an underpowered but overdesigned engine. It will last forever, which is a good thing because it will take you forever to get there.

Avoid this method like the plague it's folklure like richening the mixture more gas makes you "think" you have more power :) but alas, :frown: you are rapidly degrading the cyl. walls and piston rings at 10 mpg.

That "little" "free" mod will cost you lots of $$$$$$$$

I say shoot the author!!

X2, its for HO race apps.

Just go yank out all the vac lines I think it's about the same as messing with the air/fuel ratio...............................

Hay just thought up a "MOD"!! Drill a BA hole in the top of your intake manifold. Yay ME!!! Yay ME!! :D

Can I be in FAQ?

Hey thanks guys...
I was originally skeptical about screwing around with the fuel mixtures on a yota motor like that.
Unfortunately his truck was stolen about two hours ago!
He was actually coming over tonight to place several orders for it when he went out to find it missing!
Impressed that the mini trucks would fit a 350, but not surprised! Chevy should've contracted with Toyota, and vis-a-vie!
Seriously though, thanks for the guidance!
