Long Range Tank For 60

I have a 160 litre (42 US gallon) replacement tank in my 60
it was made by 4x4 systems in Oz, the fit was perfect
I also have a 130 litre (34 us gallon) auxillary tank for long
trips such as Canning stock route where you need to carry
about 350 litres of feul
 
I have the 40 gallon tank from Man-a-fre. Easy bolt on. I love it.

Thanks, everybody! I have been leaning toward the Man-a-Fre tank but am interested in that auxilary tank also. Where does the second tank mount? Custom made or ?

I have the MAF 150LT Long Ranger tank (actually holds about 37 US gallons). Pretty straight forward bolt in even with all emmision stuff. The stock guage, is extended and works perfect through out the full range of the tank.

Pretty tough too and sits up high enough to wheel.

Beautiful shot! I really appreciate the pic! Aside from moving the spare would you think a heavier duty set of springs will be neccessary?

Absolutely, I almost added that to my post.

Very noticeable amount of weight when full.
 
What about using helper air bags? 40 gallons of fuel is fricken heavy and when you have 1/2 tank or less, the suspension will be really bouncy and or stiff. Just a thought.
 
I got the LongRange tank that MAF sells, pricey but worth it. Installs easy, weighs some 90 odd pounds empty. The brackets line up great, my hose from the fill door to the tank's spout ended up being some 1/2" too short for optimum engagement. I get more than 38 us gals. in if I play chicken with the fuel gauge. I also TIG-spliced the extension rod that comes in the install kit, to the float arm.
 
I also have purchased the Man-it-ain't-fre long range tank, and I love it. No more worrying about where and when to fuel. But as Big Daddy mentioned, plan on welding an extention on the fuel sensor.
 
Guys, I did the math... $635 for the MAF long range fuel tank. BUT, I have to move the spare - to a rear carrier (Option1) or the roof rack (option 2) I presume.

Kaymar rear carrier is $400, plus $650 for the bumper with the pivots.

Total for option 1 = $1685... :'(

Option 2 means get a roof rack which $537 (Square Tube Tradesman for a 60), plus the spare tire mount (maybe $75?) plus a cover ($37.00) so the tire doesn't fry in the sun.

Total for option 2 = $1284... ???

My answer -- For about $ 2500 bucks, I having a custom off road trailer built with 4 Blitz cans (which will carry the same 20 gallons of extra fuel, 40 gallon stainless water tank, an extra spare, and other goodies (shower, lights, ect.). Plus, I can carry a half ton of other gear... or more gas if needed. A more cost effiicient shoice, IMHO... ::)

Thanks everyone for replies. I like the idea of the airbags, but I don't know if the owner of the 60 will. He is running a full length rooftop tent and the spare will be mounted inside. He is running add-a-leafs and it still rides well but he needs new shocks. I was thinking of Rancho 9000s in the rear as I had good luck with these when I did a shackle reversal on the front of my 60. It felt like I added a sway bar. Opinions? I would rather run OME but?

The auxilary tank runs down the side of the tail shaft between
the transfercase and the diff on the (us) passanger side sorry
I haven't got a digi cam to take pic's but look up Systems 4x4
web site for details and pics
Only draw back of so much feul on board is the weight
but pulling a trailor in the bush is the pits
 
I have an Opposite Locke 50 gallon tank in my HZJ-60. I havent played around with the rig yet, as it is getting restored.

1HZ engine + 50 gallon tank = me go long way!

you can also put the spare inside. it doesnt take up too much room when upright and should be easy to make something to hold it in place.
this is actually what i plan on doing in the future

Maybe with the stock size spare. :)
