I searched and didn't find anything. I'm wondering how people have attached their storage boxes to the floor of the truck. I guess a few bolts would do fine but would appreciate knowing what's worked for others.
I can think of a coupel of ideas:
1) Cargo net to hold it town (see the other thread in this forum)
2) Get 4 flip style anchors (1st pic) and use two camp straps to go up and over.
3) Buy two of the anchors (2nd pic), mount them in the floor and then punch two slits in the bottom of the toolbox. Inside the toolbox use a padlock or the like to secure it. this would also make it quite theftproof.
No photos but I made a square tube frame for my storage system and welded strapping stock to the top sides and bolted those to the bolts that hold the third row seat brackets to the floor. There are four bolts that hold those brackets to the top of the wheel well and I removed the seats, brackets, and bolts and put the strapping over the bolts hit it with a hammer to make an indent in the strapping and drilled the holes for the bolts. Also took two straps to the front bolts where the passanger seats mounted to the floor. Easy peasy if you have a frame for the system. I didit this way to make it super easy to remove although it prolly will never come out. I have a true two seater FZZJ80 as I took out the pass seats as well. Photoshows the frame but not the bolts. Don't have one for those. Not much help in the mounting department but just another idea.
I used some galvanized L brackets and 3/8" bolts near the back seat. One bolt down through the wheel well, another bolt down into the floor. 4 screws hold the brackets to the drawers.
By the tailgate I ran 4 or 5 (don't recall) screws through the bottom of the drawer housing and into the screw holes that would normally hold down the metal strip which retains the carpet.
So far, it has held up well and doesn't move around any. The heavy drawer full fo crap helps, I suppose.
I used the factory holes in the floor with captive nuts to secure the drawer using longer bolts. There're two holes for the factory tie down loops and two for the jumper seat floor brackets.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the ideas. I suspect I'll use a combination of all that's been mentioned. I forgot about the factory holes which will work for the front portion and I think Sandcruiser's idea for the back will be good.
I'm not using drawers, don't really understand the benefit for my use. Instead I have 4 hinged doors on the top and a 2 piece system since I may use my back seat someday and have to remove the part that goes there.
