July 15-16 CLCC Rausch creek off road Camping trip.

We are going to meet up at Rausch Creek for a little weekend of BIG wheeling. The Capital Land Cruiser Club CLCC would like to invite CLCC members, other local clubs, and individual Toyota enthousiasts to join us.

We will coordinate departure times next week for those who want to caravan up from DC. I assume there will be a noon-2pm approx departure time. Return Sunday, time TBD.

We are looking to divide the group into two to three groups: easy (stock), medium, and ridiculous. For those who have never been off roading before and plan to attend, please let us know ahead of time, and most importantly, well ahead of any trail ride.

I would also like to use this opportunity when we have everyone out to have a discussion on land use issues, which in DC area is becoming a real problem... just an informal brainstorming to see how CLCC might become more active in this. Since i am new to wheeling, it would be great to get viewpoint of those more seasoned wheelers :)

FOOD:
For CLCC members and friends, I would like to see if there is interest to doing a group food buying and cooking like we did on our last trip. Food would be organized for lunches and dinners. I can post a menu if there is sufficient interest.

That's the spirit! Did you get in touch with the guys you mentioned? Felix is going to cross post to get more people from other clubs.

Yep, but I want to wait until we get a little more action in this thread. I don't want it to look like nobody's going.

I'm planning on it. That's 4 so far if all posters are in. You in Felix?

As I mentioned to Sebastien, I'd like to run up Thursday, wheel Fri and Sat, and return Sun.

Anyone else have preferences??

Sorry, I gotta sit this one out.

I am out, not gonna make it. I have decided to take a break. I have been wheeling since October last year once/twice every month. Also, my front u-joints will pop if I get on any trail. The new ones not gonna be here in time to make this trip. However, I will be there next month for the pig's run and the following months' wheeling trips. So ya'll have fun :grinpimp:

Looking forward to some cool pix.

Wow, I have been gone for a few weeks and I missed a bunch. I am still out of the country but will be getting back late sunday and am going to try and get my stuff together so I can make this run. As of now I am a 50-50 but am really going to try and make it.

edit:
Riad,
I have a spare u-joint in my cruiser so let me know if you want it.

If you meant what you said about the trip being open to individuals i might be interested. Im in richmond right now, so it would be on the way to meet and ride up with you guys. Rausch creek sounds like a blast, ive been working hard on my rig this summer and i want to get a little play time in with it. What kind of plans have you made as far as sleeping arrangements go? I can always sleep in the back of my rig, but i dont know if people were staying in hotels or what.

Hi Matt, we absolutley meant what we said about the trip being open to individuals. We'd be glad to have you.

As for sleeping arrangments, the plan is to camp at Rausch Creek. I'm pretty sure we have a camp site reserved. I'll get back to you on that.

Tony,

That would be sweet! Is that OEM U joint? Used or new? I think I can live with one for now if it is OEM.

Send me a PM with detailed info when you get a chance

Thanks

Riad

Yeah Matt, we want to see a WHOLATA Toyotas out there. We camped last time. it was a blast. Hope you can make it Tony. And now Riad has an excuse to go :)

I should be there. I'll probably roll in Friday night (maybe with Bob if I can get out of work in time) and I'll be heading back home Saturday night.

I'm down with running black trails.

you have pm

I don't think I can make it. I just got back from some vacation time so I don't think I can wing it.

Seb,
I called rausch creek about people getting there early and camping, Lynn said she will call me back later today. We are in their calander for sat. and sun. Should we be put down for fri. as well?

Felix,
As I found out last trip, camping sites are first-come first-serve.

I too am looking forward to some pics. If anyone was planning to stick around on Sunday to wheel, I could possibly come out Sunday although I would most likely just ride along with someone...

I talked it over with my girlfriend and it seems like we could definitly make the trip up. I just finished getting a new radiator in the rig this weekend, i should be able to get it shaken down and perhaps collect some spares from the junkyard this week. So, were you guys planning on wheeling saturday and sunday? Admission seems a touch high to just run in the evening on friday.

I'm planning to arrive Friday PM, wheel on Saturday, and likely depart for home Sunday morning. This is the typical plan with some folks staying to wheel on Sunday.

Sounds great, what kinda of skill/difficulty level are those going looking for? I want to challenge myself and my truck, but im a little short on body armor right now. As long as i can open my doors ill be happy, but just trying to feel out what kinda rigs will be going (sigs never tell the whole story). Id be down for running some hard stuff, but im still SUA so im not crazy flexy. Anybody got a winch haha?

Im getting psyched up now, i should have a locker in the rear by friday (if kurt can ship it to me in time).
