Any new info on where to put the coolant temp sender on a HJ60 with superglow system; is the best option still to put the sender in the radiator hose, as shown in posts 10 and 38?

I bought one of the 38mm hose adapters on eBay for about $10 shipped. Seemed like decent quality but I ended up putting the temp sender in the water outlet after the thermostat. Same result as the hose adapter but I thought it looked a bit cleaner.

Why not have an adapter made out of brass or something? I've done it on another old car I have and it works. Even if the sensor is larger than the hole it can still be made as long as there is a hole in the middle to allow the water to reach the sensor. Anyone with a lathe, threading tools and some skill can do it. Just screw it into the opening and screw in the sensor and there you go. Don't forget to put some sealant around on both ends.

So with the temp sender after the thermostat, either in the rad hose or in the thermostat housing, some people are concerned that the gauge won't read accurately. I have the sender in the housing as shown in my earlier post. Here is a graph showing the temp from a cold start until after the thermostat opens:

I plumbed the sensor into the same place on my brothers HJ60 with no issues. The way I see it I do not care if the engine is cold, I want to monitor it when its under load and prevent it from getting to hot.
