I'm headed to Stoney Lonesome in the Gold Truck this coming saturday 8/24.

Meeting time: 7:15-7:30AM
Meeting place: McDonalds on Walker's Chapel Road, Fultondale - Exit 267 off of I-65. Meet 7:15-7:30, and the party's leaving at 7:45AM. If you're late, just head straight to Stoney Lonesome and try and find us. We'll be on CB ch 4, and I'll be on 146.460 2M simplex as well.

Would love to do this but football try outs (the boys not mine) are at 9:30.

How long are you spending and who all is going?

I've never met you but, I would gladly go. Instead I'm working this weekend.... But, I had a great time at SL

Right now it's me, 5 folks with tacomas, and a couple of heeps. Plan is to ride all day and head home around 5. The group is not hardcore, all will be wheeling daily drivers but me, and I'll probably be a little over-built for the stuff they'll want to run. That's fine by me though, because this is kind of my shake down run for the gold truck. All that to say, errthang we're getting into will probably be fine for folks that don't want to mess up their trucks. Only one taco has 35's and is fully locked, and everybody else is on 33's AFAIK. Not sure about the second heep though.

I'd love to get some DLC guys out on the ride, anyone else interested? Hal was, but he's got a work thing in the AM.

Yeah man, keep an eye out here, we'll post up about other rides.

I would love to go. I may try and get my HEEPER buddy to go up. My front wheel bearings are starting to moan, so I dont want to tempt fate in the Cruiser.

I got a passenger seat if you want to ride with.

We need to get a work party on the calendar to do that. I gotta do my brake pads and re-seal my diffs too. That's been on my to-do list for way too long. Need to get one of those round-tuits.

You still go an open seat? I like Brian don't feel comfortable taking the BFB out but I might tag along.

Yeah man, always. Cargo space will have a spare tire, tool bag, and some spare parts and fluids, but I got three open seats. Come on.

I'm confused as to the presence of the tool bag, I mean how are you going to drive and take up space in the cargo area?

hahahahahahahahaha

Glad you didn't try any hard stuff!

WTF? Two flats/blow-outs from the road or on the trail..

One on the dirt road in the park. Another on a fairly benign rock section that I hit a little bit hard. Both split the sidewalls about 2" and then the mega carnage seen in the pic was from driving to a flat spot to put it on a hi lift and change. I did some of the "extreme" trails with the heepers and was fine on all of them. Those tires are dry rotted bad from the look of it.

Wow! that sucks. Those are the better replacements that I got from Trail Worthy too.

The good news is that you have four spares and can change them yourself.

the bad news is they have all been tried and won't balance. :bang:

how'd you get home?

Thankfully they are the same lug pattern as a Tacoma so I borrowed a spare 35 from a friend. He followed me home and I put the flat back on there for now. It was the passenger rear that split so I put the front on the rear and the 35 on the front. Then with unlocked hubs and 2wd limped it on home.

Also. The truck won't stay in 4 lo at all. Definitely gotta see what's going on there. Popped out of first once too.

the 4low thing has me stumped, might be time to pull it out and take it apart.

There's a lot of clanking coming from around down there. I still think that motor mount might be gone. It was appreciably more noisy in low range than high, under torque.
