The Tour starts sat :D

Any predictions?

It'd be nice to see someone like Floyd or Levi take one. Levi cetaintly seems to be ready. Maybe one last hurrah for Ullrich or can Basso take the next 5...

Should be interesting.

Joop Zoetemelk is coming out of retirement and will win by twenty minutes over Herman Van Springel :flipoff2:

Seriously I think Jan Ullrich is the strongest and Ivan Basso the "smart" pick, but the younger Americans should give them a run for their money...

Should be a great race!

I'd love to see hincapie take more than one stage this year- maybe even be a contender?

Not likely, but I can dream.

My pick is Basso followed by Jan. Maybe Landis third...

Last month I had picked Vino, Ullrich and Basso as my top 3 for our little pool. Unfortunately it looks like Vino will not get to ride. :frown:

My new prediction is that everyone will get popped for doping, and television coverage will focus instead on the merry and possibly drunken vacationers having a blast in the grass and fields along the route. As it should be. Look for me there.

i second hincappie kicking some ass this year! (he lives in the same town as me) not only is he a badass rider. he is cool as s*** also. he offered to drive me home when i got cought in a rainstorm on my bike.

my bet is on basso. levi, floyd, ullrich in that order

Hard to imagine Basso pulling the double. Will he really be able to repeat or even improve on his Giro form? Landis, Cadel Evans, Levi, Popo, Mancebo and Salvodelli all have a shot. I think Ullrich has another podium in him, but I dont think he can win it.

Will not win: Danielson, Hincapie, Simoni, Valverde, Moreau, Mayo.

My prediction: 1. Basso, 2. Cadel Evans, 3. Landis

not sure i can watch it without Lance

I understand the sentiment, but I actually found the Lance years pretty boring, eclipsed only in boringness by the Indurain years.

A tour dominated by a rider who is only really good at racing the Tour tends to be the trend today, however. I doubt there will ever be another time like the pre-Lemond era, when tour winners won all kinds of races, all season long, even on the track in winter.

This is why, as someone else already suggested above, the sentimental favorite has to be Hincapie, as he is truly a racer's racer.

really looking forward to the tour this year !!

Prediction: Basso will win.

Jan Ullrich: Second

Floyd Landis: Third

Alexander Vinokourov: Fourth

Funny story:

My brother took his five year old to the bike shop for his first "two wheeler". The salesman was pushing the Trek really hard. My brother asks how the Trek was so much better than the other $75 lumps of steel and rubber. The salesman says "Lance Armstrong rides a Trek".

:grinpimp:
