trail cutting and wheeling day here march 22nd

for those of you that havent been out to my place, i live at my dad's house on the side of the mountain, and we have 50 acres of land on the mountain...we used to have a lot of trails cleared out, nothing too hard, but fun....this past summer we had some logging done and they made a mess of most of the property:doh:

we were out clearing out a few trails today, and i'd like to plan a day for the club to come out if there's enough interest, it'd be a day of cutting trails, wheelin, and all the free firewood you can take with you;)...i have my shop here with almost any tools you could possibly need if your rig happens to break, we could even make some burgers and hot dogs on the grill for lunch:beer:

i was thinking of doing it sometime in march or april?...when the weather is a bit warmer....so who has chain saws and who would be interested?

just so ya know there's trails that almost any stock truck can go on and there's some spots where ya need to be locked front and rear and full throttle:grinpimp:

well thats a start...btw jeff, we cleared out a couple good trails yesterday to test out your mini on:D

im gonna make a few calls and try to get some local jeepers to come out too so we'll have someone to make fun of:bounce:

I have a chainsaw . . . let me know the day when you know and I'll see if I can make it.

We need a chainsaw smilie.

not everyone needs a chainsaw, we'll need extra hands to move branches and logs out of the way too;)

I have a pretty heavy duty saw and would be happy to join in... don't need any firewood, though.

no one has to take any firewood, but i wanted to make sure i offered it up to anyone that wants it;)

when do you guys think we should do this? sometime in march?...let me know what days/weekends will or wont work for you guys in march;p

I'll be in FL the first weekend, otherwise, all clear for me for any other weekend in March!

Sounds good to me, I would need a little notice but looking forward to it. Where is this? Steve

would saturday the 15th work for everyone??...or is there going to be a trail ride at rausch in march that we need to work around?

- i guess i didnt mention that;p...northumberland, pa 17857, i live outside of town, about 5 miles from jeff dozier's house for those that dont know;)

I think that sounds good for me as it looks now. I looked on the map, you can't be very far from Treverton, we just bought a puupy there a couple of month's ago. Steve

actually maybe saturday the 22nd would be better, i know my brother wants to be here for this and i dont know if he'll be home from school the weekend of the 15th

im probably 20-30 miles from trevorton;), me step-brother lives out there

I figured that if we had 5 Subject Matter Experts involved all at the same time, coupled with some beer, what would take the average mechanic 8 hours to do we could probably knock out in 3 hours??

that's probably true, but this event is going to be trail cutting and wheeling, i have to be in the woods showing where to cut the trails, and i wouldnt really want 5 guys in the shop taking on a project like that without me there, i can be kinda picky about my tools(ask jeff;p), we could however, schedule a tech/shop day here some other time devoted only to projects similar to your knuckle job, i'll have some extra space in the shop in 2-3 weeks when my bro's buggy is leaving;)

ahem, and my mini is done : )

A tech day after the wheeling/cutting day would be sweet, some could wheel while other tech : )

I think this wheeling/cutting day should take the place of the monthly trailride... so people can make it without having to choose between the monthly ride or a fun day of trailcutting.

this will be the middle of march, if your mini isnt done by then, something catastrophic and terrible must happen;p

jeff if you want to supervise in the shop while we're in the woods that could work, but like you said having tech after trail cutting would work fine and probably be a better idea, as long as everyone has enough energy to turn a few wrenches after a day in the woods:D

something else that is an option, if anyone wants to make this a 2-day thing, i have a campsite up in the woods if anyone would want to camp out:hhmm::beer:
