I drove it for the first time. The three on the tree made things quite interesting. With the dented rim and bad wheel it couldn't go over 30 but it finally made it home to my driveway.
New lights all around comes next.
I have a 69. Here is a pic of the three wires coming out.
One wire had the spade connector, One wire ran to the coil and the third wire ran to the solenoid on the old starter along with a cable from the battery. So I hooked it up the same way, but now I think I need to unhook the one labeled...
So I ordered a reman starter from NAPA and when it came in it was a GR starter. I installed it, but I hooked up both wires to the starter post (solenoid and battery). I was researching on here last night and I found out the smaller black wire (solenoid wire) should not have been attached. My...
Hi,
New here too. i'm from Grand Rapids and just picked up a 69 two months ago. It needs work but with a little electrical work I can drive it legally. A PO clipped all the wires for everything but headlights. Hit me up and you can take a good close up look at one.
Got my 69 for $3500, in Allegan. At least that is what I paid for mine 2 months ago. Runs, drives, stops. With replacement lights and wiring, some previous PO decided to snip the wires to every light except headlights, it is streetable. Patience and a daily search is your friend. When they show...
Since my new to me 40 has a Chevy dizzy (SURPRISE!) which kinda makes the Pertronix unit not fit correct , I might as well do the right thing and replace it with an electronic dizzy. After reading this thread I look forward to getting it in.
The second picture is mine and the third is the close up of the screw.
Thank you Byron for letting me know what it is. You guys rock.
It sounds like my best bet would be to replace it and go with a Trollhole distributor. That should give me the correct one plus no need of the Pertronix unit.
I was trying to install the unit today, 1665A, and used the Offroad.com install as a guide. When I tried to fit the base plate in, it did not fit. I have a slotted head that rotates left and right, and I have no idea what it does. Also my dist looks opposite of the one on Offroad.com.
