Coming up with a bumper idea is hard....

I made mine out of 6” x 2 5/16 x 5/16 channel iron. It fit over the frame ends and I made a bunch of aluminum angled shims for mounting due to the inside of angle iron. I cut and welded the ends with a nice sweep back. Ended up shortening my original design twice making the fender shorter and...

FJ40 HFS 4" lift (New to lifting above 2.5) Need some advice!

Like I have posted before you have to get the rear of the transfer case and the rear pinyon angle within a couple degrees of being in plane with each other. You will need shims to do this and you really can only guess until you bolt everything up and take some measurements. Spector has a diagram...

Hell for stout vs skyjacker 4 inch lift?

4 inch Skyjacker lift with Bilstien shocks and one inch extended shackles, it’s a great comb. Tried a heavy duty 4 inch spring with a military wrap on end and they were awful, stiff like the springs were welded together, no flex. On the topic of shims, steel for sure but more importantly make...

    2.5" or 4" Lift...Shackles, Springs and Shocks

Skyjacker quiet ride 4” lift, Bilstien 5100’s on 33-12-50-15 and in heaven. Stay away from any spring that’s tightly wrapped so the springs act like a pack and are not progressive. They will be stiff for ever. Been there and done that, tossed a set of afterm armed military wrapped springs due to...

My 69 fj40 project - is this going to work?

IMO no it’s not gonna work. you have no room for a rear drive shaft and the front one will be a 4 footer. The drive shafts should be somewhat the same length within reason and then there’s the shaft angles. Wow you got in deep IMO.

    Front Bucket Seat Options 71-72?

I installed a pair of Best Top Jeep Seats in mine and it was a massive improvement for comfort. Low bolsters make it nice and easy to get in and out. Had suspension type seats, race seats, and the same stock drivers bucket And bench combo. Around $600 pre COVID and some home made Bracketry...

    FJ40 Height with 33" Tires

It’s a seven foot door opening but its actually 2 inches short of seven foot @ 82”. Also my rig clears it by a couple inches. Hopes this helps.

    FJ40 Height with 33" Tires

I don’t have my hard top on to measure but I can tell you that my rig with a 4 inch lift and 33’s fits under a standard garage door opening. It might fit with 35’s but I can’t say for sure.

    Tire Choice

General Grabber X3‘s on Rock Crawler steel 15 x 8 wheels for my rig. I’ve tried many different tires over the last 45 years and these Generals are hands down the best I’ve had on my 40. They are great on the road, not too loud and very smooth but air these down ( not mandatory )and hit the...

Show me your FJ40 4"lift SUA with 35's

When I thought about 35’s on mine I realized it requires a lot more than just a lift. You don’t want to run the old birfields on a 35 setup IMO, need upgraded steering and brakes to stop your rig on 35’s. They are heavy tires also. A lot to think about for an extra inch of lift over 33’s. 33’s...

    '71 fj40 shackle lift suggestions?

I ran a shackle lift for years with my stock springs, I also cut my rear panels to help make that setup work. Buy a lift kit with lifted springs and then you add some shackle length for the additional articulation you get from the lift. 4” on my Skyjacker lift and no more rubbing when wheeling...
