Ive been reading how to access my starter on the forum. Who thought to put it within the engine...
I digress. I have 280k on the old steed. Some recommend just contacts as these are robust starters but I wonder if I should replace the entire unit with a rebuilt Denso due to age and milage to...
I’ve searched the forum for this to no avail So forgive me if I missed it. My fan bracket gave out a few years ago (ironically passing the Toyota dealership) on the interstate so I had it replaced. Think they charged me $700 for the job 😳. Serpentine belt broke as a result.
Now the fan makes a...
Closing the thread - cylinder #2 coil and plug swapped out. Smooth as silk. With 270k I’ve now changed 3 coils. If I wasn’t so cheap I’d do the other 5 but I have too many things with engines so I triage. Thanks gentlemen
I ordered a coil once here I will report back. I fill a little silly as I jumped to conclusions about the tranny and should have know better as the same symptoms happened in 2019 and a new coil remedied it.
For who this may help out in the future - It turns out that an OBDII can diagnose a bad coil without the check engine light turning. Plugged it in and sure enough cylinder # 2 misfire. This will be the third coil or forth coil I put on this truck. Common with these trucks it seems
My beloved 2000 LX has been everywhere reliably. At 276K it needs a timing belt and a fan braket. I was going to spring for it this week but today it started stumbling from stop and surging in drive at stop lights. At first I thought is was the tranny and at this point I'm thinking I'm out...
Cool as a cumber - it was the thermostat.
So easy to change, I feel foolish for not doing it when the radiator was replaced.
I removed the intake tube going to the throttle bottle to get to it. When in there I cleaned the throttle body. Cant recommend cleaning your throttle body enough...
I burped the system and replaced the radiator cap. I did notice coolant movement once warm and a sucking and spewing of coolant with the throttle once warm. Pretty sure the thermostat is opening up. Fan is easy to stop with engine both cold and hot. I grabbed it while warm and it showed no...
abuck99 - Just reread your post. Fan spins and spins when cold by had but does have resistance. Yes I remember now last year dealer replaced the bracket bearing not the fan clutch I am pretty sure. 700 bucks for the bearing (highway robbery) but I was traveling and not in my hometown...
Radiator is new and clean. Fluid is new pink toyota stuff from the summer when the radiator was replaced. I did the radiator myself and all seemed fine. I did notice the overflow tank was at low level when cold this morning and raised to full when hot. I can't say I remember this from...
I forgot the fan clutch. The bearing was replaced last summer as it locked up and broke the belt. I wonder if the whole assembly is typically replaced. From memory it was a 700 dollar job
It is cold here currently in Santa Fe and high temps are in the mid twenties. Ironically my truck has been running hot especially at interstate speed under load. The temp gauge is getting right to the red zone but not in it under moderate load.
If I drop it down a gear and rev the hell out...
