    96' 80 Series Airbag Question

Thanks for your quick reply!! I'll attach some pictures of it. It was hit so hard the passenger side tire slammed up against the curb and even took a chunk out of the curb! She claimed she was going 5 MPH, but I call BS on that one. The whole car was shifted over! One of the suspension bars...

    96' 80 Series Airbag Question

Hello fellow 80 series enthusiasts! Long story short, my neighbor hit my 80 while it was parked on the street. The front fender had to be replaced, and the door had to be repaired. There was also some suspension damage. Luckily the insurance company took care of everything. I got the car back...

Need Help identifying mystery pieces found in oil pan

I went back and took a look at a cleaner part of the oil pan and noticed that it was white actually. Not sure if I've ever seen white RTV. I think it appeared grey from the grease and oil on it. Not sure! I'm happy with it as long as it doesn't leak 🤣

Need Help identifying mystery pieces found in oil pan

Alright, removed the tensioner and gently moved the chain out of the way with a pick to examine the guides. They look good to me.. there doesn't appear to be much wear on the slipper. I ran a pick across it and felt some very small grooves where the edges of the chain ride. Not bad at all. Much...

Need Help identifying mystery pieces found in oil pan

I'll do just that! I'll report back with my findings.. I'm thinking everything is A-ok in there. I also noticed that the upper pan has been taken off since it has been resealed with some grey RTV and not the black FIPG. So maybe when the PO had the head gasket replaced, they did a timing chain...

Need Help identifying mystery pieces found in oil pan

Muffler Bearings are a must!! Anyone have the Toyota part # for them?? ;) I've been staring at this timing chain/guides for the past hour and come to the consensus that I think it's ok. I climbed on top of the engine and stared straight down the valve cover. I can see tensioner material on...

Here is another shot of the chain on the slipper side. I have a borescope but the battery is dead. Once it charges up I'll put it down there and try to get a better view!

Need Help identifying mystery pieces found in oil pan

Thanks for the suggestion. I just pulled the valve cover and tried to take as decent of pictures as I can in that tight space.. heres what I got! What do you guys think? From what I can tell, the guides look ok, but Im not sure where the common failure points are on these guides. Let me know...

Need Help identifying mystery pieces found in oil pan

Definitely on the list Broski! And yes I do thankfully. I was able to borrow a car from one of my neighbors who is out of town. I just placed an order at my local Toyota dealer and thought I would provide everyone with a complete (to my knowledge) list of every part and their part number needed...

Need Help identifying mystery pieces found in oil pan

Looking forward to reading your write up!! I think for now, Im just going to pull head and timing cover to replace the timing chain components, head gasket, and upgrade to the ARP Head bolts. I don't currently have to funds to do a complete rebuild, but I plan on one in the future! It runs...

Need Help identifying mystery pieces found in oil pan

Thanks everyone for your replies! I really appreciate it. Just looked through my big folder of receipts and couldn't find anything on the timing chain. It's likely original. I'm thinking since I'm already going to be super deep in the engine to replace the chain, should I just yank the engine...

Need Help identifying mystery pieces found in oil pan

Hey! Thanks for the quick reply! That's what I was thinking.. Should I worry about it? I know the timing chain is an absolute bear to replace with the engine in.... I plan on doing a rebuild one day when the engine shows more signs of being "tired"
