Perhaps I could have got more if I was willing to wait but unfortunately I am in a situation where I needed to move fast.
Hope not either but it is his now. He did specifically say he had been wanting to find a stock one in good condition for some time now so he could restore it rather than...
Thanks, yes I can confirm it is sold now. It sounded like it was on it's way to live in Western Oregon so you may all still see it around the West Coast roaming the dunes of Oregon. One thing I did appreciate was the new buyer did not have plans to chop her up. He sounded like he planned to keep...
We did not make a deal over the phone. I only agreed you could look at it Friday on your way through town. Sorry you feel that was dishonest but again I never agreed to sell it to you or hold it. So far no one has been here with cash in hand yet. My word is as good as anyone's. The only offers I...
DSRTRDR Thanks for the tips. I managed to get my hands on perhaps one of the last remaining header kits out there for the FJ40 (california version). Unfortunately I have been moving and rebuilding our new house right now so the cruiser repair project got put on hold. I have the big box and all...

Do they sell maybe another smog friendly version?
Damn @AlaskanWheeler you beat me to the punch! lol
I would also like to buy the exhaust manifold, EGR and exhaust downpipe.
soooo @Moody if the deal does not workout with Alaskan please let me know.
Jim,
I appreciate the reply. I hope that they do make it back on the market someday soon as I have read nothing but good things about the Downey headers these last few days of searching.
It is sounding like I am stuck here and my old cruiser might just get parked for awhile until I can locate...
Thanks for the tip. I got similar suggestions from other forum members saying to go with the federal version instead and that CA no longer requires the old Thermal Reactor version. The thread I started is here https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/my-1978-fj40-with-her-top-off.856256/
@Downey I am digging up this 6 year old thread since you seem to be in California and are mentioning a smog legal header. Do you still make these? If so how much? I have 78 FJ40 California edition that need a new exhaust manifold and I am finding them to be nearly impossible to locate.
