How much metal shavings is too much in the oil pan?

Is the engine a 93 by chance ? Given your story, the drop in oil pressure, and the fine metal, it may be a bad day. However if it is an early 1FZ and it was running fine, I would tell you the first pics look just like what I found in my oil pan and deduced had been in there for 20+ years...

Working well I think, it was about 90 outside.... Took a long weekend trip before the girls start school next week. I still had the drivers knee trim panel off since I hadn't ever reinstalled the cruise control computer and a hand throttle. The wife was in the back and wouldn't let me turn...

Hi Dan, tou tried to help me out in this thread... Trying to remember for sure, but pretty sure I ended up just reusing the original. Thanks, Jason

35" Tires. Ring and Pinion or 10% T-Case Gears?

Yes, little bit of a whine, more noticeable when cold. If you're old enough to remember radio whine / ignition noise, a light background version of that is a good description. It's not major, and not something I would expect to be an issue for someone who would lift a vehicle and put it on...

PAIR/reed Valve; delete or not to delete?

Good to know, just curious now, what month was yours built ? Just looked, and the parts listing shows 8/92 - 1/95 for the 93 / 94 EGR temp sensor 8941250010 but I didn't have one, I have the plug. And I understood that to be normal for those years. My truck was built in 6/93. Jason

35" Tires. Ring and Pinion or 10% T-Case Gears?

Agree, I have only done the transfer case gears so far, but I am happy with them (did both low and high range, while I was in there). Now I still have the option to do axles if I want more. I am fairly mechanically inclined, but I was scared of the transfer case for some reason. I couldn't...

PAIR/reed Valve; delete or not to delete?

I know Joey is going through some things right now with the turbo kits, but go to Wits End and look for the keychains, you will find what you need.... You don't need the Hudd Expo plug, nothing against them, but you already have it., factory. Toyota wired the cars for the EGR temp sensor in...

PAIR/reed Valve; delete or not to delete?

Toyota block off plates were NLA when I tried to get them, but several places sell O2 block off plates, just make sure they are for the correct two stud style. You can choose to block off the original O2 locations or the PAIR injection locations. I moved mine since I used a later style exhaust...

    Old School Body Shop

I'm another GA guy, we might be neighbors, where are you ? PM me if you don't want to put it out in public. Not sure on the hesitancy to do single stage, it's easy to fix your mistakes ! I guess basecoat / clearcoat is just what people know now. Auto Paint Specialty in Athens has a mix on...

What is your favorite color for factory paint in an 80 Series?

If you have Moonglow, you have the best color, period (in my opinion at least). I bought a new door handle and got the only color that was in stock at the time. Since it was "gray" I assumed they were no longer sold as color matched and it would be primer gray. Nope, came in moonglow. My...
