    Another front axle groove question.

Haha. The picture is a bit misleading isn't it? The brake line is in the center port. The bleeder is above. So that part is OK. I was more concerned about the added length of the hose and if there's any problem with it being where it is...close to the shock, etc. And that it is meant to bypass...

    Another front axle groove question.

So, I managed to get the TRE put back together using a floor jack to lightly hold it in place. I ordered new 555 TREs but the ones already on the truck actually seem OK. Anyway, I'll be ready when they start to go...or when I feel like replacing them. Installed the Marlin seal. I hope it holds...

    Another front axle groove question.

Thanks Spike. I was wondering about the double groove as well. I will order the Marlin seals and see how that goes. A couple of other things have happened on the re-build that I wonder if you or anyone can offer additional advice: 1. I put the shims that were on the knuckle back on the way they...

    Another front axle groove question.

Hi I've torn into a knuckle rebuild on a 84 FJ60. There are grooves on the front axle. They are not too deep (fingernail does not get caught). But I'd love to have someone's opinion about whether I should overdrive (or underdrive?? do I understand that some people do not drive the seal in the...

Pinion flange (rear) making metallic noise - do I need new 3rd member?

Dear All sorry it's been some time. So...because of work I had to leave the truck for a bit. Here is a video of the pinion flange once I took the dust cover and seal off to replace the seal. So much play. Is this normal? I drained the diff oil and there was quite a metallic sludge attached...

Pinion flange (rear) making metallic noise - do I need new 3rd member?

Hi @SteveH Thanks for the reply! I've ordered a replacement dust cover. Will take off the flange, replace the seal while I'm there as well. st

Pinion flange (rear) making metallic noise - do I need new 3rd member?

Hi All After some searching, this part moving around is just the dust cover of the companion flange (I think). Is a loose dust cover something to worry about if there is no play in the pinion flange / bearing? Or is a loose dust cover indicative of a larger problem? Or can I just somehow affix...

Pinion flange (rear) making metallic noise - do I need new 3rd member?

Hi All Was hearing a metallic noise coming from under vehicle. Disconnected the rear driveshaft to start troubleshooting. Noticed the pinion flange was wonky - see video below. Maybe instead of 'wonky' I should be more specific. It appears as if side of the flange that is, I think, supposed to...

    Transporting 22RE engine for rebuild

Hi @pappy removed starter. Still won’t separate from bellhousing. Do I need to remove the stud that goes into bellhousing and holds starter? There is space between bellhousing and block...but if I cannot get it further I will call towtruck... Thanks so much for your advice!
